Silver Ridge Retreat

Beautiful place to stay on a trip around Tasmania. Friendly staff and beautiful surroundings.

Poorly managed The pictures were too misleading. The furniture was dated and one room was unkempt when we checked in. There were cobwebs around. One cupboard door was broken. The place looked run-down. Indoor pool was filled with floating particles even though the owner claimed they used top-notch filtering system. I thought we will get to see more animals like in the pictures. Unlike what I read from reviews, we saw one duck, one goose, one cow and one horse. WiFi is strong but it was not turned on the second day. Basic kitchen equipment was provided. Fridge had a funky smell. After all these first impressions of poor upkeeping, we were skeptical of the water quality so we had to drive 12 mins to Sheffield to get drinking water. The only saving grace is majestic Mount Roland. I regretted booking this place. I should book a place a cabin at Cradle Mountain area instead.

Had a great stay at Silver Ridge retreat. It feels very far away from everything and is very peaceful with beautiful surroundings. I especially enjoyed the large green rolling hills with a backdrop of Mt Roland that I could see from my cottage. They were very friendly and helpful, letting me check out a couple hours later my last day when I was a bit unwell.

What a tranquil place! Exactly as in the picture and so much more. John is a excellent host. We did a short walk to the caves which we thoroughly enjoyed for the adventure and mystery. The views all day long are so picturesque. The rooms are comfortable but the bedrooms can get very cold in the night.

The positives were a clean comfortable bed and the bathroom was renovated to a good standard. The rest of the cottage and the whole site was incredibly tired and appeared sadly neglected. There were dead flies on the window sills and a lot of grit. Dishes had not been washed properly by previous guests. You could not drink the water, lucky we had enough bottled water to get by.

Room was nice and clean, but after a long day bush walking you think the spa would be great to soak in. Nooooo rather disgusting when it’s brown water. I know the water is tested, but yuckkkky. Also a few bottles of drinking water would be really nice sitting in the frig.
