Two days at The Open at Royal Troon this week (Jul 24) and searched TA & Google for convenient hotels. Stumbled over The Redhurst - 30 min drive from golf course. So - took a punt. WOW - WHAT A FIND! OUTSTANDING value for money. Very modern and lovely furnished small hotel. Restaurant was excellent. Bar - well designed and great buzz. Bedroom, though not huge, was good enough and really well furnished, equipped and super comfortable bed and delightfully presented. Ver clean, well furnished with great in room nibbles ( be warned!). Ensuite with shower was well designed and furnished. Dinner menu was not large but more than adequate - simple straight forward good nosh. Crispy BBQ chicken strips , as a starter, is a must- delicious . Their steak & ale pie - WINNER! Meat quality was excellent & plentiful. All freshly cooked, hot and very very tasty. BUT.. the absolute star(s) of the show were the staff. Rarely have I met such young, motivated and customer focussed staff. From front desk, through bar to breakfast & dining staff - all were simply outstanding. They could not have done anything to make our stay any more pleasant. OUTSTANDING! I would highly recommend this hotel whether visiting on Scottish golf tour or Glasgow.I will be organising a golfing trip back to the West coast & will definitely be visiting again this lovely hotel. Parklands Hotel & Country Club is a hidden gem. From the moment we stepped into the hotel it was well decorated, given a wedding vibe to us. The wedding area for ceremonies and evening reception gaves you an insight of how the big day would work. It's very well structured and thought out so it flows well and no cross over with guests staying in the hotel. The surrounding area has loads of space for wedding photos/videos such as a close by woods, open grass area and the baloney at the top of the hotel for those stunning photo opportunities. Jennifer (events manager) is an unbelievable coordinator when it comes to weddings. We met up with her 3/4 times throughout the year to makes sure everything was on track and if anything needed done or changed. On the day she made my wife and I feel so relaxed, making sure we just enjoyed the day with friends and family. If there was any issues on the day I wasn't aware due to Jennifer dealing with everything. Staff all day couldn't do enough for us. They looked after all guests and if we needed anything extra they would make sure to get it. We even had a visit from the owner of Parklands which I found it very humbling and appreciated to take time out to see us. The food was delicious, not just on the day but we visited the restaurant a couple of times before the wedding. I'd recommend to go in for dinner to see how good the steak pie is. We visited wedding venues ranging from Greenock to East Kilbride and Parklands came on top. The value for money for a full wedding (90 people for us) is amazing. This is from them organising, planning, the look, great food, professional staff and a stressless experience for my wife and I. I'd recommend to go in for a look and chat, thats all it took for us to know it was the place for us. Thank you Parklands for making our wedding day so unforgettable. Mr & Mrs Grassie

The hotel is really nice and quiet, the bed was really comfortable. It can be quite hard to find the way in if you’ve come at night when it’s dark and not many people around. It’s quite straight forward with transport links into the town when you know where you are going.

Thank you to the staff, as a solo traveller I was quite nervous but I felt so safe. Check in was smooth and friendly. The hotel is clean, stylish and smart. You need your room key to use the lifts so I felt so safe going to my room. I stayed in a double room and it was so spacious! Everything was tidy and well placed. Even though there was a fun fair on the next street it didn’t really bother me when I shut the window. It was my first time staying in an apart-hotel and I would definitely recommend! I didn’t know that having ice in the freezer and cutlery would make me so happy haha. I could chill my water and have a lovely meal in my room without having to fork out for a more expensive takeaway. I used the Tesco express down the street to get myself fresh food. The bathroom had a lovely heated towel Rail too so I had the warmest, fluffiest towel! Down in the lobby they have a Brita water filter, board games, extra kitchen equipment and food and drink. Will certainly return if I ever visit Glasgow again!

Having stayed here a few times before due to its location and reasonable price, I was left disappointed this time. I had booked this hotel because for some reason every hotel in Glasgow that weekend was unusually expensive. Hotels I would have expected to pay ＞£100 were £150/180. The jury’s was £111. A warm welcome from reception staff and the main lobby is modern and clean. The room we were allocated (618) was a bit dated. It was spacious because it was an accessible room, not at our request so maybe why it was cheaper than others. The above two points didn’t really bother us because it was just somewhere to sleep as we were attending a gig. Unfortunately we did not sleep very well. The windows didn’t do enough to soundproof the outside street noise, the walls were paper thin and you could hear the neighbours talking, plugging and unplugging electrical items- all minor quiet stuff which you shouldn’t really be able to here. Our room had a buzzing noise coming from the vent in the room which kept us awake til 7.30am… and then the neighbours started getting ready to check out. We never complained during the night because we were so tired after being out all night and the noise was intermittent so just when you thought you were back to sleep, it started again. The room was clean but as I said dated, and for this reason I don’t think I’d chose to stay here again.

Enjoyed our time at the Address, Glasgow. Central location, friendly staff, nicely appointed room, comfy bed, tasty breakfast. Wellness suite was nice and relaxing. A few folk were needing help in finding the wellness suite as signage was worded differently around parts of the 1st floor floor. Not a major issue, just an observation. Will definitely be back.

Just to be clear, this isn't a fine star establishment but it does deserve a fine star review for what it provides at the price or charges. City centre location. Lots of shopping and food options around the venue. Staff were very pleasant although more knowledge about bus routes would have been helpful given the number of out of towners that will be staying here. I chose a double room without a window sunder I was literally just sleeping here rather than spending time in the room. It is very clean, nice white bedding. The double bed took up the whole of the Room bar the entrance part but that was absolutely not an issue because I didn't need any more space. There was a toilet and shower wet room, TV, mirror, hanging area (not a full wardrobe but it absolutely sure what I needed). I appreciated the interesting extra touches which had clearly been considered for a compact space such as storage under the bed for luggage, free wi-fi, plug points and light switches by the bed and only having room cleaning and bedding changed on request and for an additional charge, rather than being included in three cost of the Room when it really wasn't necessary or environmentally aware given that I only had a two night stay. I would definitely use this service again. I paid £25 per night through booking.com which for a city centre location is outstanding.

Stayed for two nights, enjoyed the stay. Friendly employees, clean and spacious room, and a decent bar for a pint. The free breakfast was beyond expectation. Location-wise it may seem slightly isolated, but can't complain as nearest superstore and train station are within walking distance. Also loved the view of nearby park.

Upon arrival the hotel is beautiful from the outside and the free parking is a bonus. When we went to check in we waited for ages and no one appeared, we had to press the ring door bell outside and eventually a lady arrived to check us in. We had called over a week ago and asked if we could check in early, when we told the lady this she said she hadn’t been made aware that we called but she did still let us check in early, I asked if the hotel had a lift and it felt like she took offence at me asking because the building is “SO old” okay I’m not a mind reader, it was a simple question and we have stayed in old buildings before that have lifts. Room was on the top floor, had to lug heavy suitcases up, the room was small but comfy, it was a hot day and was disappointed to find no fan in the room so we had to leave the window open all night and was woken by people outside talking. The bathroom was awful, you couldn’t swing a cat and the water pressure was the worst thing we have ever experienced in our lives, at one point the water stopped working all together, you also had to turn it on and leave it 10 mins to heat up. We also got woken up 2 days in a row by the loud slamming of the other doors from the rooms, the bed was comfy with nice bedding but the TV only has about 5 functioning channels. Check out is 10am which is bizarre, you have to pay £10 extra to stay until 12pm and of course there was no staff when we checked out. The best thing about this hotel is the location! It’s a stones throw from the train station and has a small highstreet with some nice shops! Even though it wasn’t a great experience, we would go back and maybe book a larger room on a lower floor because the location was excellent for what we paid, if they could get the staffing and water situation sorted out it would rate so much higher!
