Hotel Traiano

The hotel has a quiet location a bit up in the city. The hotel is old fashioned, but it is clean. The receptionist is very helpfull. Our family stayed in a family room at the top floor. It was more like an apartment with two bedrooms and a kitchen area with sink, small refrigerator, microwave oven and a washing machine. The washing machine was really good to have during the warm summer to wash the clothes. Also there is a shared roof terrace with a drying rack. Then to the cons. The most negative thing was the poor aircondition. There are ACs in both bedrooms and in the kitchen, but even when they are set to the minimum temperarure we were sweating all the time inside the room. Also outside of course since it was 35 degrees outside in the summer. So it was hard to sleep because of the heat. The breakfast was very limited. Some cakes, cereal or bread with one type of cheese or meat. The scrambled eggs and bacon were better than usual in hotels. But the alternatives were few, so a bit boring for more than one night.

Chose this hotel as only wanted an overnight stay. Hotel arranged to pick us up from Ciampino Airport which all worked out well. We arrived around 11pm, and guy on duty was happy to serve us a drink at the bar, sorry forgotten his name. Our room was spacious, and seemed to have everything if you were looking to self-cater, although we didn’t make any use of them ourselves. We had breakfast which was included, and had a good selection of continental and some hot options plus coffee machine. We also arranged with the hotel to take us to the cruise port, again no issues. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and nothing too much trouble. It may be 3* (which is reflected in the price), but definitely 5* service in our experience.

Friendly English speaking staff, clean rooms and ready at check in time, bed was hard as a rock but that is the only negative. Breakfast was included into the price. They had car service pick us up at the airports, the driver was waiting for us with a sign. I would use this hotel for future stays in Civitavecchia.

Day staff was amazing, very friendly. Only downside was they did say the owner would lock up my luggage whilst waiting for room, but , 3 hours later when I came back ,it was still in the hall lobby. Night staff and room... (Which was the OWNER) Dated hotel but ok. Fridge doesn't work... Night guy .. owner came and put on, worked for 1 hours, then shut down. AC.. they don't turn on till 4 pm... At 830 had mgr (owner) come up, still hot in room. He said it's working, but my thermometer on my phone says otherwise. He's very dismissive, doesn't want to fix or care that I'm literally dripping in sweat. Asked to open living room door, get cool air in and enjoy balcony... But it's stuck closed . Yeah it's locked... Just oh well... (I can post great video of him struggling with door and being totally dismissive, and oh well, like deal with it.. ) Room supposed to have washer ... No washer in room, night guy (owner) came up to verify . So much for getting the "suite" ... No washer, no fridge for insulin, no AC, Owner said he thought it had a washer... Like really.. you don't know?? Where did the washing machine go??? Chairs ripped and stained. Other guests we shared ride with, said same thing!! AC didn't work, and they had no washer in room as promised! So don't believe you will have AC or a washer, and likely no working fridge , mold to breathe, etc Mold in bathroom quite bad, some mold in bedroom as well Toilet seat not attached properly, slides off when sitting down. horrible night of sleep... So decide at your own risk... They certainly have work to do, spend some money and let's get it fixed up and done right please. They have some awards behind counter that should tell you everything, I think they were like trip advisor excellence awards from like 12 years ago.... So maybe 12 years ago was good, most places won't leave an old award up past one year if you don't make it during consecutive years, but nope, many years ago... Nothing since and we can all see why Stay at your own risk!!!! It's not worth it, at any price.
