I was celebrating the “official” end of this cursed COVID pandemic with a biketour into MAGNIFICENT MEXICO, 10-13MAY2023. Specifically, I entered this fascinating country on 11MAY2023 at the Ft. Hancock-el Porveñir POE, cycling across the dry riverbed of the Rio Bravo/Rio Grande to user-friendly Ruta Dos. My route was straightforward: stay NW-bound from el Porveñir on the only all-weather road that paralleled the exotic river/boundary, passing through several communities, Including Praxedis G. Guerrero/Cazeta/Juárez y Reforma/San Agustín, before entering Cd. Juárez. In that massive/thriving community, my goal was simple: get to my reserved HOTEL MARIPINA before Sunset. I was already rather familiar with Cd. Juárez from many visits over many years, using different modes of travel, most often by bicycle. Now that I’ve “aged out” and require eHelp from an electric PAS, that meant overnighting in a motel where I can recharge the eBatteries in a ground-level (no longer do I have the strength to carry/drag a loaded bike up or down stairs!) room. The HOTEL MARIPINA was perfect! Room 108 had two queen beds, TV, full bathroom, lots of space, but no microwave nor mini-fridge—which makes sense because there is an attached restaurant. This was a tremendous unexpected bonus because both nights (11-12MAY2023) I overnighted here, it was SO EASY for me to have a delicious brekkie and NOT go out looking for food. All of the personnel, both at the front desk/kitchen, are extremely friendly and professional. I felt very welcomed, and definitely look forward to returning! This fine overnightery has my coveted “iWheel of Approval!”
