Rooms: Definitely needs an upgrade. Lights were very dim, hard to apply make up. Chipped wood furnishing. Dusty. Pillows are super soft and go flat when you lay in them. Front desk: not welcoming. Manager Did not greet us, just walked my each morning. Microwave is in the front, none in the room, fyi Bistro: VERY-expensive! Found out they have complimentary coffee for guest on day 2 after I scanned behind the bistro and saw a pot sitting by itself. No cups were available. Went back to the front desk and asked for cups. Elevator: the carpet definitely needs updating. Dirty. Pool: looked cloudy and was extremely dirty with mildew. Did not use. Jacuzzi was non operational ( I think it been like that for awhile) looking at the other reviews. We were put in a handicap room, when I never requested one. The pool was definitely the low point of the trip. My daughter looks forward to swimming and my husband the whirlpool. Parking was fine. Right off the highway. 10mins from Cuyahoga national Park. We drove 4 hours to come to this. Won’t book her again there is a Hilton next door, although I prefer Marriott. Might try downtown next trip.
+Very clean rooms, safe area both go along way. -Staff was less than friendly on checking in, everyone has a bad day so I’m ok with that. -However she was very adamant about us not having a party in the room, we signed a paper stating we would follow this rule (a middle aged man in a suit doesn’t give party animal vibes). You would figure with this and signs in the hall about keeping noise to a minimum it would be enforced… kids running the halls screaming and nothing was done. - A $100 hold was placed on my card for incidentals over a week ago and still has not been returned. I have traveled for work the past 3 years staying in hotels across the United States and have never seen a rate this high for this long. It doesn’t affect me but it could impact families traveling who are living on a budget.
This was our first stay at a Home2 Suites. We normally stay at Hampton Inns but we decided to try this one. We were spoiled, nice big clean rooms, very comfortable beds (best I have had). This location was close to everything. Breakfast had a lot of options to choose from and the breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. We used the room key on our phone, easy check in and check out. The front desk guys were very friendly as we were coming and going. We were in town for a Basketball game at Akron University and it was a nice location. We didn’t get a chance to use the pool. I think we will choose Home2 Suites again

This was a really nice property to stay in. I really loved how close it was to every place I needed to go to or visit, including restaurants, family, and shopping. The staff, especially AJay was personable and helpful. The continental breakfast was more than continental, that was a lot of food to fill up on. The pool, although small was a lot of fun, for those of us who don't know how to swim, I wish there was a hot tub, but the pool served its purpose. The room was nice and clean as well. The only thing missing was a liquid soap and lotion mount by the sink. They only had that one little bitty soap, but I'm glad I travel with my own. Yet having that as an option, that little touch would've given the room a little more pizazz. All in all, I enjoyed my stay, I highly recommend Fairfield, they aim to please.
Good and Bad: Good: Easy check-in, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfest, and clean rooms. Bad: The first suite we checked into had a terrible moldy smell. The desk clerk came up and agreed the room smelled and immediately offered to move us to a new room. One comment about this first room--in the bathroom the toilet paper was at least five feet from the toilet--not sure how you were suppoese to reach it. In our new room (suite) one of the two tvs was broken. An IT person spent two hours working on it to no avail, so he took it home and worked on it overnight. The next morning the TV was fixed. Even in this room it was a long reach to use the toilet paper. Good: Without even requesting, the hotel offered to discount our bill.
Kent seems to have only this hotel in the city, other hotels are far away, not very convenient. All aspects of the hotel are OK, the price is slightly more expensive. It’s very convenient to go to the university in a few minutes’ walk. It’s a good choice for a visit to Kent and a temporary study abroad.
This hotel exceeded our expectations. They were friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Taj (spelling?) at the front desk was especially kind, helpful, and friendly during our stay. She’s was delightful. As a family that frequently travels, book this hotel! I promise you won’t be disappointed. Front desk is helpful, rooms are clean (housekeeping was prompt to visit each day), beds were comfy (pillows were a little too fluffy for my taste), and breakfast selections were better than most.
Allright, so my husband & I plus a couple others came to Kent as they had a company meeting to attend. Normally we prefer to stay at the Comfort Inn across the road for the big indoor pool & hot tub but their reviews weren’t great lately and the hot tub was broken. Anyway we saw this hotel had a small indoor pool to still enjoy. We knew coming here was risky since our total was only $50 but it was cheaper than the others around. Upon arrival we realize it didn’t look promising based on how the exterior and parking lot appeared. Well we checked in and went up to our room on the 2nd floor to room 209. First of all we noticed the hallways were not vacuumed. It was 3 pm and you would have figured this should have already been done. In our room we had a bedspread that had at least 3 different areas of smoke burn holes. Also on the fitted sheet on one side of the bed where you would have your pillow, there were more burn holes We did have a non smoking room btw. Also close to the ceiling above the sink there was water damage on the wall and also on the ceiling above the toilet and shower. The shower curtain is not long enough for the bar. There was 4 patched up holes on the wall perhaps where a tv used to hang. The wood flooring throughout was nice. My husband tried to pop a bag of popcorn in what I would consider the slowest microwave ever. It only popped half of it and started burning the rest. The walls are very thin in there as we were woken up at 5 am from the person above us and then about 7:30 am from our next door neighbor. Anyway, let’s back up to our evening between arrival and bedtime. We went to use the pool about an hour after we arrived. Boy, it was freezing in there. The thermostat didn’t work and the pool was too ice cold to even get into. The door going in and out was supported by a c-clamp. There were only 2 towels. Luckily one of the men working-perhaps the owner came in and apologized that no one had used the pool in a couple of days. And also blamed the cold weather outside for why it was also cold in there. He turned the heat up and and said that it should warm up very quickly. He provided us with more towels and even brought one to my husband and put it around his shoulders. He also offered us some coffee. I think it either embarrassed him or he really felt bad. It did finally warm up some to where we could get it. This pool and the walls are in need of paint and a good cleaning. After an hour we left with 2 others we were there with to go to dinner. When we returned we all decided to go to the pool again. The temp outside of course was much colder which in turn made what little warmth the pool water had worse. All four of us literally stood in the water each next to a vent to try and stay warm. A younger guy employee came in and turned the water temp up but it didn’t help much. We just tolerated what we had. We asked if he could turn up the room temp but he also noticed the thermostat was broken and just laughed and said he
