My son and I stayed one night in a one bedroom suite while in town to tour Vassar. The hotel’s location and nearby amenities (we walked to a very decent sushi dinner) was great. Other than that, the hotel was really loud - lots of screaming in the hallways until late at night, the people staying in the room on the other side of my head had their alarm going at 6 am for almost an hour and it might as well have been in my room. Walls don’t appear to have any sound mitigation at all. The sofa bed (where my son slept) was too uncomfortable as a bed (and the thin mattress was stained/dirty with no mattress cover) so he re-folded it into a couch. Needless to say we didn’t get much sleep. Wish I had better things to say. It’s also awkward to have to go through the bedroom to get to the one bathroom. We’ve stayed at many Residence Inns and not had this experience.
I've stayed at a lot of Homewood Suites over the last ten years as Hilton Diamond Member, but this one is on another level excellence as a top-notch place to stay in the Hudson River Valley. Was welcomed at check-in and given lots of suggestions of things to see & do in the area. Property is absolutely spotless in a fantastic location in PoughKeepsie. Loved being able to safely walk right over to lots of great nearby shops & restaurants such as Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Fresh Frozen Yogurt, Red Robin, Subway, Five Guys, & CVS. My room was clean, cozy, comfortable, and quiet. Slept well. Enjoyed their wonderful breakfast (different each morning & with friendly, helpful staff), fitness center, pool, outdoor fire pit, and lobby areas. Parking is free, safe, and plentiful. You'll often see deer casually walk by which was fun to see. You're a quick, short drive to the FDR Library/Museum & House (highly recommend), Eleanor Roosevelt National Historical Site, Marist College, Walkway over the Hudson River (incredible walk), and Locust Grove Estate (home of Samuel Morse). Highly recommend this property and can't wait to return during fall foliage one year.
We had a death in the family, so we had to make quick arrangements, and the place we stayed in the last time was booked. This one was cerainly acceptable, although the room was smaller and the general ambiance was somewhat less than at our prior choice. The sticking point for me was that the room price doesn't include breakfast. There's a Starbucks in the lobby where you can get a limited hot menu. It is totally my faut for not having read the website carefully enough, of course. But I would have made another choice if i'd been aware of that.

This new property scores well on the major points: Clean room, comfortable bed and quiet. However, the entire property has a very sterile, hospital-like appearance. Breakfast was edible but that's about it. Other than the cleaning staff, who was friendly and cheerful, the rest of the staff could learn to smile and say hello. If you can get a room at a reasonable price then this hotel is a good value. But at $350+ for one night, look elsewhere.

We travel with family and friends it's a great location easy to access the lobby, very bright lighting around the building makes me feel more secured. Nice clean room, the hotel maintain good standard of the brand very professional employee's. The manager gives pride to this hotel.
We have family in the area from Hyde Park down to Fishkill, and the location of this hotel is right in the middle, making it easy for us to visit them. The property was clean and easy to access. The lady checking us in was very friendly and pleasant, making check-in a breeze. Our room was clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was good, offering the standard Hampton Inn choices. Every time we went the front desk when we either left the hotel to start our day's adventures or returned, we were always greeted by the front desk staff with a ”have a great day” or a ”welcome back”. We will definitely book this location again next time we visit family. Plenty of restaurants, shopping, and local attractions are nearby. The Metro-North Train station is close by in Poughkeepsie for day trips to NYC.
We almost passed the Best Western as it blends in with the rest of the nice city of Poughkeepsie NY. At night it so quiet as it is next to a river and constructed of brick. Nicest Best Western I have stayed at in a long time.
Love this booking, I was there for two nights. Hotel room is huge , bathroom is also huge, I like that it has a big sink table, which actually allows people to put their bathroom necessities on.
The self- laundry service is very reasonable in price. First time using.
The staff were all super nice and professional, and some even energetic. Can tell they like their job. Especially the cheerful guy at day time.
The cleaning lady also cleans daily
The swimming pool and gym are small, but enough
The breakfast is simple but decent
Things I think would love to have: 1) room slippers; 2) the big TV isn’t smart TV
The Holiday Inn Express at 2750 South Road in Poughkeepsie, New York has got to be an example of one of the worst properties in existence with the Holiday Inn name. My booking was for a four-night stay. When my wife and I arrived, we found the by a parking lot uneven and full of potholes. When I checked in there were no luggage carts to be found. The desk clerk was very nice and offered to search the hotel for a luggage cart. The design of the bathroom was horrible, the room was large but had a small single sink vanity that left no room for guest toiletries. The mirror behind the vanity had a bright light on each side that ran the full length of the mirror. The glare was so bad I could not see my face well enough to shave. The next day we were away from the property the entire day and upon returning we found that no service whatsoever had been performed. Very prominently in our room was a card displaying how the hotel would strive to perform all the functions such as trash disposal, refreshing towels and washcloths, making the bed, and generally performing all the duties a good hotel would do. None of these things were done. We complained to the front desk clerk, and she gave us some towels and washcloths. There was an apology but no offer of compensation. The charges for Saturday and Sunday were astronomical, especially for a property with no functioning pool. When I checked out, there was still no offer of compensation. I complained and was offered about $100 reduction and 500 points. My charges just for June 16th and June 17th were $650.67. I thought that offer was an insult. I complained to the clerk, and she responded that the hotel manager would get back to me in a few days. He did not, and about a week later I called him to complain. He became somewhat irritated and proceeded to tell me “how the hotel business ran”, and he was not going to do anything for me. I proceeded to tell him the clerk had already offered a pittance. He offered to return $112.13. Had this been a Marriott or Hilton property I know the manager would have totally comped the room for that night. The reason I know this is because other hotels that I have been to have gone out of their way to please their guests in this fashion.
