Excellent
Great hotel, which was quiet, with helpful and kind staff. Especially Ryan and Alexis, they were extremely kind, friendly, thorough, and helpful. Alexis answered all our questions without making us feel incompetent. Ryan was an incredible gentleman, helping my great grandmother and aunt into our vehicle and closed the door behind them and provided water for all of us. Thanks for the great experience!

GGuest UserI stayed at this hotel for work a trip. Prior to me arriving, my manager booked my stay and at the time of the booking he stated that the stay should be completely charged on his credit card. The Hampton Inn employee stated because we are with a group, the security deposit would be $15 per day and I was aware that a charge would be on my personal credit card, which was fine . When I checked in, the lady at the desk said she would charge for the security deposit. I was staying for 3 nights , so there should have been a charge of $45. Once I got to my room, I checked my account and saw there was a $500 charge on my account . I went back down to the front desk and calmly said to the lady, I am just looking for clarity on why my card was charge this amount when that’s not the agreement that was told by phone. I was immediately met with hostility and was told “I’m not going to argue with you, you can talk to the manger.” The manager Sheeri Hightower came out and she was just as rude. She was very dismissive and told me no credit card was on file for my reservation and that’s why I was charge. That was a complete lie , because you can’t even book a reservation without a credit card and if that was the case, why wasn’t that mentioned when I checked in??! So, I went back to my room. As I walked away, I heard Sheeri Hightower and her employee laughing at me as I walked away(Nice way to make your guest feel welcomed.)To make a long story short, I had my manager email over his credit card info so he could cover the reservation. My manager called me and told me he talked to the front desk and it should be handled. Instead of the hotel manager calling me to tell me the issue was resolved and my credit card would be refunded, I heard nothing from them. So I stopped by the front desk again, Just to confirm they received my managers credit card and that it would be refunded . Again, I was met with an attitude and was talked to In a condescending tone. The following day, I was at the bar by the pool and the manager Sheeri Hightower walked behind the bar, looked dead at me and didn’t speak . She turned her back to me and ate a hamburger behind the bar and never acknowledged me. Once she was done, she walked away. The Hampton Inn needs to take a better look at the type of people they are hiring . I have been a customer service manager for 15 years and I would never be this rude to a customer. When my company has another convention, I will recommend they find another hotel. I will never stay here again.

OOsborneMargaretCheck in process was not smooth due to room keys not programming correctly at check in. We were sent upstairs to “try” the key which of course didn’t work. The hotel staff was very kind about it and came up to let us into the room until keys could be programmed. The major disappointment was our room. It had 2 doubles which is perfect for family traveling, but the glass shower is front and center with a view from every direction within the room and from the exterior hallway. Not a family friendly stay.

HH22NLdinadI have never written a bad review for any establishment I've been to ...but this was very upsetting and handled very wrong! At check-in, I gave license plate information for 2 of my cars. After I checked out, I found a ticket on 1 of my cars for non-payment of parking. Gave the ticket to front desk, and was told ”we'll take care of it”. Called 2 days later and spoke to Grace, their GM to follow-up and was told I never gave them info for 2 cars, only 1. She wouldn't even give me her supervisor's name, said I have to call customer service. I did that and they were unable to assist me and told me that their Gen Mgr has final say. Really???!!!

We had our annual conference at this hotel for the 4th year Sept. 23-26th. As always they took good care of us. We will have to find a new venue due to our group growing too big to be accomodated and we are sorry to be leaving. The staff was great, especially Johnny, Christina, Etha, Trevor, Jaime, Chef, Erika, Frankie and Michael. Each helped us make our conference of approximately 180 people our most sucessful to date.

We arrived late because we were traveling from NH to move our daughter in to her apartment. After reading the negative reviews I waited to book my points until we got here. When I walked in at 11:56 the woman at the front desk said to book asap before 12. So I booked a queen bed and a pull out couch because that is all that was left for points. After she realized we were there with our daughter, she upgraded us to two queens and a much larger room. She was so accommodating and super nice. I wish I got her name (she was working August 2nd at 11:56). When we got to our room it was really nice and large. Yes, it is dated (but very clean) and the rooms are pet friendly so there were dogs there but they didn’t bark at all. The room smelled nice. No bugs (like people mentioned) and we had a great nights sleep before we had to move a truck load of furniture. The breakfast was also very good. Eggs, oatmeal (with a million toppings), sausage, bagels, toast, muffins. The woman running the breakfast was also super nice walking around and asking everyone if they needed anything. I definitely recommend this place.

GGuest UserOkay, I am going to say that the hotel itself is clean, comfy and the staff is friendly and efficient. The property is in the downtown area and adjacent to the local college campus and is a River front property... and that ladies and gents is my only issue. What I am about to write will no doubt be read by people who will think Hmmm, what a self-entitled ***** and to that I will correct you and ask you to remove the ”self” part and focus SOLELY on the ENTITLED part. I am and have been for several years a Diamond HHonors member. You achieve Diamond (Hilton's HIGHEST level of guest loyalty) not because you OCCASSIONALLY stay at a Hilton branded property, but because you stay at them CONSTANTLY. In order to get there, you have not only spent nights in their bed's but THOUSANDS of dollars to achieve that level of brand LOYALTY. Among the perks/benefits of that level of BRAND LOYALTY (please note the theme here with that word) you have the right to request a room upgrade at check in among other benefits. For the record, not once since achieving Diamond status, have I requested my room be upgraded to a suite. Primarily because I am in the hotel for one day and on to my next property the following day, most times leaving in the middle of the night due to the line of work I am in. Today, as I arrive at the Ballast, I notice the river and the USS North Carolina museum ship moored just behind the hotel. I get to my room and discover that I am street side in an odd numbered room and would really like to get some upper view photos of the battleship. I returned to the desk and ask if I could be switched to a waterside room. Now, for the record the hotel is NINE STORIES TALL and as near as I can calculate has 26 water facing rooms on each floor. Assuming, that floors one and two and possibly three are event and meeting space that still leaves six floors or 156 water side rooms available for booking. Imagine my surprise when I am informed that ”sorry, there is no way for me to move you” You're telling me that 156 rooms are occupied by folks that are incredibly LOYAL to your brand? That the2 wedding parties that you tell me are in house could not be equally accommodated in street side rooms? So much for brand LOYALTY!

Review coming from a group of 3 adults Pros and Cons Pros: Right on the beach, excellent view from room, decent amount of space, 2 bathrooms (one shower), friendly staff, indoor/outdoor pool with easy access, end of the beach ***** so it's not crowded (if you walk to the north a bit there's even less people) nice decor, feels bright and beachy, quiet, you couldn't hear people in other rooms banging around, you get a stovetop, microwave, mini fridge with tiny freezer, cups, dishes/silverware, if you sleep on the sofa bed you can leave your balcony door open and listen to the ocean and feel secure, very safe environment- I saw tons of women alone, kids, elderly, no sketchy characters lurking around, price is affordable for what you get though they do tack on fees of I think $23 per person required. So for 2 days after all was said and done it cost me about $700. Cons: no lifeguard on duty, room fills with strong sickening septic odor when using the shower, room isn't very clean (I had to wipe a spot on the floor shortly after checking in, the paper towel came up black) amenities are not great- restaurant may or may not be open and nearest food will require driving unless you get Uber eats or some other form of delivery, there is no easy access to beach gear like chairs, boogie boards, life vests- you get a thin towel at the front desk. So if you want those items they do have guys who come in a truck and will rent you chairs for awhile, not sure if you're able to keep them overnight so you can enjoy the ocean at night. Otherwise you have to drive into town if you want the other gear. The room furniture is all uncomfortable- you get a sofa, 2 small wicker chairs and 4 wood dining table chairs for seating, balcony is small, 2 people max and if you're 5'7” like me the wide top part of the railing hits just right to block your nice view, mini fridge is small if you're trying to keep more than 1 day worth of food, we didn't buy much of our own food but I could see that being extremely annoying if you did because now you have to go get a cooler somewhere and buy ice. If you come prepared to overcome the inconveniences mentioned here you'll have a great time, the view is excellent, very safe environment. I would probably come here again but be more prepared and try to request a room that doesn't fill with septic odor.
