The room was very clean and tidy, especially the view facing the golf course was very beautiful. Behind the golf course were rolling hills. There was a large lake on the right side of the hotel, and the scenery was pleasant.
Got there late afternoon. The guy in the plywood ”lobby” was so stoned, he couldn't properly operate the credit card reader for my friend (”Uh, you're not gonna get a receipt, if that's ok ...”) and could not figure out the change when I paid for my room in cash, $5 over the total. He kept disappearing into some anteroom, eventually handing me $20 as my change (?). Also didn't remember he'd already given both of us keys, so tried to give me a 3rd one for a different room. Said it was just ”...SO chaotic because SO many people were coming in.” (There are only 8 rooms, and 3 were unoccupied.) Haven't seen somebody that baked since the late 70s. My room's bathroom sink lights didn't work, and both room fixtures had bare bulbs. Lamp next to the bed had to be plugged and unplugged to use, as the little toggle was broken off. The only plus? Whoever cleans the rooms is a champ!
With a stay at Drakeslanding Inn in Shaver Lake, you'll be near ski lifts, just steps from Sierra National Forest and a 4-minute drive from Central Sierra Historical Society. This guesthouse is 1.9 mi (3 km) from Museum of the Sierra and 2.7 mi (4.3 km) from Shaver Lake.
This smoke-free guesthouse features snowboarding nearby and cross-country skiing nearby.
Free self parking is available onsite.
Treat yourself to a stay in one of the 2 individually decorated guestrooms, featuring private spa tubs. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Conveniences include separate sitting areas, and housekeeping is provided on request.
Parking is convenient, because it is very empty in the mountains, and there is a Schafer Lake nearby. It is beautiful to be able to play cruises early. There is a pizzeria nearby at night, only the one that is open until the latest. The bed is not big, and the room is warmly decorated, with a fairy tale feeling. The landlord’s husband and wife are very nice. The host is called Greg. It’s too sweet to come over and cook French toast for breakfast in the morning. The amount is also large. There is also a buffet of fruit, milk, cookies and red wine. By the way, when it's late, follow the instructions in the email and pick up the keys from the mailbox on the left side of the front door.

GGuest UserI’ve stayed at Fairfield Inns several times in Canada, but this was my first time in the US. When I first walked into the room, there was a very strong chemical smell that I found totally unpleasant and overwhelming. It only dissipated by keeping the window open almost all of the time during my 4-day stay. The other major issue is that there weren’t enough light sources. The room was rather dark, especially at night. The only overhead light in the room was the one near the door, and it was on a timer. So, I had to stand up every 15 minutes to switch it back on. There was a reading lamp and a strange object below it that could have been an ottoman since it had no back. I would have loved a reading chair in the room. Instead, there was this weird ottoman-like thing without a back that didn’t function as a chair. Perhaps it was just a spot to place a suitcase. I have no idea. The walls were very thin, as I could hear my neighbor’s TV quite loudly all the time they were in the room. In addition, I really would have liked a safe in the room. On the plus side, the walk-in shower was great and the breakfast was very good. I send a shout-out to Tony, the person who checked me in. He was extremely good-natured and helpful. I wish all employees at hotels were like him. Overall, this hotel was a mixed bag, especially with regard to the room odour. I would probably try another hotel if I were to come back to town.
MMel SI stayed at the hotel for 1 night on the way from Yosemite to Sequoia. The room was completely fine for a 1 night stay (partially renovated), but I had issues with the Wi-Fi. I did NOT click the button for enhanced paid wifi, I just wanted the free version and put in my name and room number on my cell phone as I am a Marriott Bonvoy member. I was only at the property for less than 12 hours (literally went right to bed after checking emails), so I did not even use the wifi. However, when I left, I was charged 3 wifi charges for $4.95 each. The front desk staff did not know how to remove this at 6am when I left. I called the next day and the person removed 2 of the charges, but still left 1 $4.95 charge. Just watch out for this charge.. I've never had this issue at another Marriott property and it is really frustrating!
GGuest UserThis hotel has construction, and we were only told upon check-in to expect an 'inconvenience.' The noise beginning early in the morning on Monday, the second night of our stay, was absolutely unbearable, and ruined our morning on the day of preparation for a relatives funeral. Literally sounded like a jackhammer on the wall outside our room. They’re doing stonework. There's dust flying everywhere. There's loose plaster on the carpet in the elevators and the hallways. Construction workers come and go in the elevators alongside customers with all their equipment and mess and noise. There's an operating cherrypicker in the registration area of the parking lot with no safety cones. You walk out the East guest door on the first floor into a total hardhat situation with people doing stonework on ladders overhead, construction material blocking the exit, and the door is usually propped open all day. I politely told the front desk that we unfortunately needed to check out 2 days early due to the noise, and requested a late checkout to 3pm because we had appointments at the church, and funeral home, and hadn't planned to have to change hotels today. Note that I'm a platinum member, and didn't expect this to be an issue whatsoever given the unusual circumstances. I was denied, and asked for the manager, who promptly flatly denied my request with literally the rudest most uncaring expression and flat tone possible. I reinstated my request and attempted to explain my situation, and the manager admitted that the hotel was not booked (obviously because my room was already spoken for for 2 more nights), but still, she flatly denied me. She finally told me it was because the hotel could experience 'loss of revenue.' So I'm here to tell you that if revenue is more important than customer experience or showing compassion to a customer you placed in a difficult situation, I will no longer be staying at La Quinta. I'll certainly never step foot in this one again, in a town I visit every month. And I’ll be demanding a full refund from La Quinta Platinum Customer Service, let’s see where that gets me. I also recommend anyone else over the next few months seriously reconsider. I don't care about your loss of revenue. Close this place, finish it up, and reopen. With a new manager. There are several really nice hotels with similar rates in the immediate area.
SSeat2CPositives: 1. Rooms were clean and comfortable 2. Breakfast was great especially the signature Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls which are amazing! 3. Got upgraded to a suite as an IHG Platinum without having to request an upgrade--this hotel knows how to treat it's IHG elite members and it shows. Negatives: 1. None of the televisions in the rooms were working and we were told this upon check-in, but it was still disappointing since I do enjoy watching tv when I stay at hotels. 2. There is a noticeable smell of **** in the hallway which I really can't stand, particularly in a hotel that is supposedly 100% smoke free. Over all, this hotel has a lot of potential to be a more solid choice in the Fresno area if they can successfully deal with these few issues which in my opinion are significant.
GGuest UserWe stayed at this location as a way stop while helping move our daughter to southern California for school. We were caravanning with two cars loaded with household items. Prior plans to connect with family in the Yosemite area (and keep things secure overnight) had to be hastily changed because of evolving wildfires. We made a last minute reservation and pulled in to this hotel later in the evening. Ever aware of possible security risks, but knowing there wasn’t any way to avoid leaving things in the cars, we took a little comfort that they had someone sitting outside the hotel entry who the desk indicated was there to watch the cars –and we did take more valuable items like laptop computers to the room. When we returned to our cars early the next morning, both of them had smashed backseat windows. The household items, mostly packed in storage bins, were untouched. However, about half of our daughter’s clothes that were in a large stuffed duffle and two handmade quilts – one she’d made with her grandmother last year before she passed – were gone. I’m giving the hotel 1 star because of security. The security person they had out front seemed to be semi-catatonic, which had prompted my inquiry at the desk when we checked in, and which in hindsight should have raised more questions. However, with a last minute, nonrefundable reservation and being at the end of a 12 hour day of driving we didn’t feel like we had much choice. The signs about not leaving valuables in your car that dot the parking lot also aren’t much help, except for the hotel to be able to say “we told you so”. This is a hotel along the highway -of course there are travelers with stuff –most people aren’t just making a short trip to the corner mall. The hotel staff nicely helped get us trash bags, broom and vacuum to clean up all the broken glass, and provided the phone number for the police, but didn’t do much more. I asked about security camera footage since we were right in the field of view for two cameras –but the front desk couldn’t reach their manager to get permission to share it. I left my name and phone, but never heard back. We called the police immediately upon discovering the damage and stolen items, but they didn’t show up and so we left to start looking for someplace that could replace broken windows on a Saturday (hint, auto dealers aren’t likely going to be able to help). We got one car fixed at a glass shop associated with the local pick-n-pull –but it took about half the day. The other vehicle, which was less than a week old, I ended up driving to southern California without a window (which means other windows also have to be down to avoid the resulting wind throb –that’s fun for 4-1/2 hours) with the hope of finding a dealer to make the repair near our final destination. In the end, this is a crime hole. Until the Hotel finds way to really effectively ensure safety and security (it’s a cinch as others aren’t going to) you’d be be
Stayed two nights at the motel. One night going south, the other night a couple of days later heading back north. The first night we were given a disability access room even though we didn't really need such a room. Fine, except that the heat didn't work and it was a cold night. The heating fan made an awful noise when on. It was late and we were just too tired to call the desk about it so bundled up. The second night, on the way back, got another room, not disabled access. Room was very nice and clean. Heating in that room worked perfect. Beds were very comfortable in both rooms. Rooms were clean. The disabled access bathroom sink could use a tap whose handle doesn't hit the shelf above it when lifting it to turn the water on. As seems to be the trend in lodging nowadays, room does not come with microwave, refrigerator or coffee maker. The area stinks of potential steak and hamburger material. It is after all next door to the biggest cattle ranch in the state. Fortunately the rooms were pretty well insulated from the smell outside. The people at the desk and other motel workers were very nice and friendly. There's a really good taqueria nearby. Cholio's. Highly recommend it. For coffee there's a Starbucks. A bit watered down for my taste. In terms of highway noise, best to ask for room facing the pool.
BBernice RuizOnly thing that wasn't to my liking was there was only entrance They wanted yew to enter through instead b4 they use to have a variety of entrances accessible to the hotel it was a hassle moving my belongings from the father side of the hotel nd my room was on the 3rd floor. Nd no baggage dolly that they use to have b4 that wasn't Available either
PPENGI heard from customers that the surrounding area is not very safe, so I took everything in the car to the room. Actually, it was OK, nothing happened. The room is quite big.
