It has been almost a year since we were robbed in our hotel room. The so-called “head of security” and “head surveillance”has done an excellent job ignoring every phone call and voicemail since that day and has lied repeatedly about getting back to us. When I say, LIED REPEATEDLY, he has LIED REPEATEDLY. His tone is so pompous and arrogant and he has all but excused the employee(s) who entered our room and stole our money and valuables. We were still guests there but housekeeping emptied our ENTIRE room. Not 1 sock, shoe, or shirt that was in the closet made it down to their lost and found since they mistakenly assumed we had checked out when in reality we had 2 days left. Everything in our room was “removed” including money and other valuables. The security on staff continued to laugh in our face. The head of surveillance condoned what happened saying “can’t prove it so sorry about that”. The hotel management on duty was useless. Don’t even risk it.
If I could give 0 stars I would! This was the WORST hotel I have EVER stayed at. When we arrived to Ramada at; 4141 South Calumet Avenue Hammond, IN 46320 United States We were in room 239 and when we entered there were light bulbs out, dirty towels in the bathroom, and the toilet would not flush at all. We called the manager and they moved us to room 237. When we got into room 237, we found a dirty spoon left in a chair, spider webs above our bed, blood stain hand mark on the back of the bathroom door along with a dirty towel already there, a faucet in the tub that never stopped running, the toilet in that room also had an extremely hard time flushing, dead spider in the shower, a dirty shower curtain, dirty marks on the sink, and something hanging from the ceiling that was not plugged into the outlet all the way. We spent a lot of money on this room this weekend and had the absolute WORST experience ever! We were going to leave and go somewhere else but by that time there was no where else to go so we had to deal with the horrible conditions of this hotel room. These were horrible and dirty circumstances we had to deal with especially since Covid is still around, you would think things would be better cleaned. This was outrageous conditions to stay in!

We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in Hammond Indiana from 9/29/23 to 10/3/23. We're loyal Marriott customers, but this stay didn't measure up to Courtyard's standards. (We realize that the hotel is in the middle of being redecorated, but our problems had nothing to do with that.) We checked in at midnight on Friday after a long flight delay. The bartender in the ”bistro” told us that breakfast would be served until 11am on Saturday. However, the next day they closed at 10am and we missed breakfast. Would it have killed him to consult some official listing of their hours, instead of just guessing? (However, many thanks to the guy who took pity on us on Saturday and got us some cereal and fruit and leftover coffee, even though they were officially closed.) Speaking of cereal, how is it right for a Courtyard to gradually run out of Kellogg's cereal over the course of a 4-night stay? The first morning there were only two boxes of non-sugary cereal, one (1) Raisin-Bran and one (1) Rice Krispies. We ate them. Then after that first day, it was all sugar-coated so we couldn't have any cereal. Over the following three days there were fewer and fewer little boxes on the shelf. Had they ordered too little? Was it somehow impossible to replenish their stock? On the first day there was fresh fruit in cups for sale. It was good. The following days the unsold cups were STILL in the fridge for sale, no longer fresh. Hello? You have to throw away the old fruit when it doesn't sell, and prepare fresh new fruit for your customers. Our room phone never worked at all. We asked at least twice. We understand that there may have been a good reason for it being out of order. But good customer service would have included a little note saying, ”So sorry, the phone can't be repaired because _____. Have a nice day!” instead of making us wonder if they were even trying to fix it. Likewise, on the first day the desk lamp didn't work. We had to ask twice and it finally worked on the third day. Why didn't they notice that the desk lamp and the phone weren't working and alert us before we checked in? The first day, we asked the cleaners for some extra coffee and hand soap for the sink, and also for hand lotion of which there was none. They said yes. However, not only didn't they give us any of this, they never serviced our room at all. The next day we specifically asked the desk clerk to get us coffee, and hand lotion and hand soap for the sink, but they only got us a small bottle of hand lotion. No coffee. We've never stayed in a nice hotel before that did not automatically stock the bathroom sink with hand soap and hand lotion. And coffee. The first day, there was no liquid soap in the dispenser in the shower. How is that even possible? The cleaners simply need to check the dispenser every day. That's the only reliable system for ensuring that the dispenser will not run out. The third day, although our room was serviced, the cleaners didn't replenish our coffee
The day manager and man who runs breakfast are an A+. Rooms are clean, comfortable. Parking lot feel safe. Byway Brewing restaurant next door is good. I slept really well and was happy until I came down this morning and the night manager was asleep, snoring at full force in the lobby lounge chairs. I tried calling the hotel phone #...no answer. Complete dereliction of duty. Unsafe and unprofessional. I called IHG. Hopefully, they will do something, because the rest of the visit--hotel and other staff--was terrific.
I stopped in this Choice Hotels property while in the area for business. I chose the hotel since I have stayed in most of the hotels in the area such as the three Marriott properties down the road, the all-new Holiday Inn Express and the Hampton since its right next door to the Byway Brewery. One of the reasons I choose this hotel was the price. Most of the hotels in the area were extremely high..( conventions? Dunes? ) that night. The reviews seemed to be pretty good for this hotel as well. First off this hotel is a little off the beaten path, tucked away in a little alcove off the highway but tucked away in a secure location so one star for that. It s also two minutes away from a Starbucks, JJ Fish and Chicken and across the road from Walmart and Cabellas'. From the perspective of location, it's nicely situated in a secure compound with lots of parking. I checked in quite easily to this massive property and got the King Room I had reserved. Check-in was seamless and the staff were very nice. I got my key and went to my room. The room itself was nothing special, it had a lingering musty smell, the AC/Heat unit was a little noisy. There were some chips and dents in the furniture, the carpet looked old and the room itself was a little dreary. My bathroom was spotless and very clean so that's a plus. I did get a good nights sleep. The gym was okay and no one was using it, it does need a modernization. The cool thing is its right off the pool which is the hotels' main attraction. I didn't actually use the pool but it was packed with kids and grown-ups. The breakfast was a saving grace with multiple options for the calorie counter and those who indulge. The food was fresh, well prepared and the staff working the breakfast area were attentive and refilling food stations when needed. Pros - Location, Price, Pool Cons - A little on the tired side and in need of a facelift, The fitness centre is okay but could use modernization, no USB ports and hard to find places to plugin, and the wifi was okay not blazing fast but I was able to surf and send emails. Will I stay here again? I might give it a second chance.
