The Inn at Thorn Hill is truly a special place nearly surrounded by one of the USA’s magnificent national forests. We came for the fall foliage and left a week later feeling connected to the inn, staff, and village of Jackson. The Inn is all about serenity and comfort. The staff is courteous and considerate and genuinely seem to enjoy caring for their guests for a brief period before sending them home with an appreciation of New Hampshire’s hearty spirit and natural beauty. We hope to return to the Inn at Thorn Hill during the summertime and again in the Fall to see Diana’s Baths and to sightsee along the Kancamagus Highway.
MMr-KanThe rooms are spacious, the transportation is convenient, and the parking spaces are sufficient. There are many restaurants next to the main road and the hotel's breakfast is not bad.
Went for dinner Monday evening …a nice surprise, 2 for1 entrees on Mondays during the month ! Soup of day was seafood stew. Loved it! Not a cup . Even bigger than a bowl! A meal in itself. And spicy, which I loved. My wife had the blackened salmon, it was thick and perfectly cooked. I had chicken Alfredo, which also was good. But oh, the stew. Sooooo good.
GGuest UserThe Inn itself is lovely. It's located in a part of New Hampshire that is very quaint and picturesque. Nestled in between a ski mountain and cross country ski center, the Inn has small, comfortable rooms that look up towards the ski lifts. The rooms are modestly furnished but clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant is staffed by friendly employees who take the time to ask about your day and interests. For the money I paid to stay at this location, I'd recommend it for any couple on a journey to the White Mountains and aiming to keep within a budget as well.
BBrittyBearBoston2We were on the road travelling when the GM, Mitch, called to inform us that there was an issue with overbookong. We explained we were already driving in the mountains and hours from home. He assured us that he'd figure it out. When we arrived around 4pm - sure enough he had and we checked in. Mitch and Marla were very accomodating even moving us to the first floor since I was traveling with my mom whose disabled. The rooms are perfectly fine for a little lodge in NH - just what you'd expect. While a little older they are clean, smell fresh, provide all the comforts of home such as flat screens, WiFi, and a comfy bed. Our room even had a mini-fridge and microwave. The outside is very plain and more run down, but most things are in that type of landscape. The rooms were definitely up to choice standards which is why I always choose to stay with them honestly. Some mentioned in there reviews that there isn't much around - duh! It's a small town in the mountains not North Conway. Everything you need is within a couple miles; some fast food places, plenty of convenience stores, dollar general, gas stations, and a few restaurants. We highly recommend Jakes Seafood and Grille as well as the Wooden Spoon for breakfast! Also down 16 is the Ossipee overlook (see some pictures below) - check it out! Beautiful and not overly crowded! One last note, the gentleman at check out was a gem; checking on our stay, offering us a breakfast sandwich for the road (assuming they handle those things due to covid), and letting us know it was their pleasure to have us as guests and to visit again soon. I love simple hospitality! My brother and his family have a camp in the area - I promise we'll be back! Thank you to Mitch, Marla, and the staff! P.S. If your concerned about covid measures - this lodge is on top of it. Masks are required for common areas, hand sanitizer available for guests, plexi glass dividers, and all.
TTrysha BI very rarely write reviews, but I felt this was important. I read the reviews for this motel AFTER my husband had already booked the room. I was not happy…..I was quite nervous, but the room was booked, there we no available hotel rooms under $250.00 for one night and we were 2 hours away from home, so we didn’t really have a choice. We got to the hotel very late that night. There was nobody there to check us in, but our room keys and instructions were waiting for us at the door. Awesome! We get to our room, open the door and to our surprise the room was beautiful! All updated and new! The colors in the room were grey, white and brown and had red accents which made for a pretty cool pop of color! Our 2 double beds were so comfy! The sheets and comforter were so soft that we didn’t want to get out of bed the next morning! Pros-the bathroom is gorgeous, modern and brand spankin’ new! There is a dispenser filled with shampoo and body wash hanging in the shower. There is also a permanent nightlight in the bathroom. I liked that. The beds are very comfy and so is the bedding. There is a little coffee pot, fridge, a big screen tv, small round table and a chair in the room. The air conditioning/heating unit is brand new. We set the temperature to our liking with no issues. Cons- These are not necessarily bad things, but if you are used to regular hotel rooms with amenities, then you might want to read this to prepare. There is no tub, so you can’t give your baby a bath. There is no closet, no ironing board, no hooks and no hangers anywhere in the room. If you’re going to a wedding and planning on staying at this hotel just know that you can’t hang your dress or suit anywhere. There is however a bureau and shelving for your stuff. We had to fold our winter jackets and put them on the shelves. I didn’t like that. When it rains or snows and your jackets are wet you’ll have to lay them on the bed or chair, I suppose. There is no microwave. There is no hair dryer. There is a sliding pocket door to the bathroom, but no handle to open the door from the inside. Would I stay at this hotel again? OH ABSOLUTELY! Would I recommend it to people looking for a hotel to stay at?? OH ABSOLUTELY! If I was the owner/s of this hotel I would look into installing hooks of some kind for guests to hang jackets etc., because there is no closet. I’d also install a handle to get out of the bathroom. That being said, they are doing a wonderful job renovating the rooms. It’s a work in progress. Things take time, but all of their hard work will pay off in the end. I am definitely looking forward to another visit at the Yankee Clipper!
