The environment is really good. The mountains and plains are covered with red, yellow and green colors. This is it. The golf course looks like an oil painting when photographed.
However, such an expensive hotel does not include breakfast. There is only a buffet breakfast for 28 and there is not much to eat. I mainly eat fruits. The dinner at 1902 restaurant tastes good but is very expensive. They don’t even provide bread before the meal. They still have to buy it for 6 US dollars.
I stayed in so many hotels this time, and this is the only one that has a bellman to help deliver luggage to the room because the elevator is too small.
The tour that introduced the hotel was really good. The tour was supposed to be one hour, but the tour lasted an hour and a half.
The service at the front desk was very poor. When I checked in, I was asked to swipe my credit card for a pre-authorization deposit. After eating two meals, I thought it was deducted from the deposit. I called the bank and said it was two pre-authorizations and one was credited to US$253 (meal fee). It’s a few dollars more than the deposit) It’s another pre-authorization for POS machine consumption that hasn’t been released yet. I don’t know what kind of trick this is. I only stayed for one night and two pre-authorizations were deducted from me. How did I use POS for the second deposit? The card machine didn't ask me for my credit card when I checked out.
So glad we decided to stay at the Omni Bretton Arms Inn on the resort property rather than the main hotel building (and it was a lot less expensive!). The dining room at the Inn is better in terms of food and service than either of the two large dining rooms at the main building (and we ate at all three during our stay). Plus we like the quiet coziness of the smaller property. Our room was spacious with all the needed amenities, although the layout was a bit awkward to fit the seating area in comfortably. And we get the attraction of the pedestal sink but that means it is inconvenient to locate toiletry bags in the bathroom. Minor issues in the big picture. Staff were all friendly and eager to please. It would be nice if the valet parking had been provided (as signs suggested it would be), but the parking is very close in any case. Bell service would be a help, but the elevator minimized the inconvenience of having to handle our own (heavy!) bags.

My husband and I had a one night getaway at the Wayside Inn, and we loved it! Upon arrival, we decided we preferred to move from the annex to the main Inn, and the Mother of the innkeeper Sarah cheerfully made the switch for us! Our room was spacious, quaint, and I loved the decorations and hardwood floors! We even had a jacuzzi tub in the spacious bathroom! The room was spotless, so clean and inviting! I loved hearing the river out our windows and the birds in the morning! A delicious breakfast was included, and I appreciated the early start at 7:30 so we could get out on our bicycles. The innkeeper Sarah has obviously done so much work to this historic property. I am sure it has not been easy, especially with a young family. Sarah is amazing! I look forward to staying again to see further improvements she has made! Thank you for the wonderful overnight!
The Glen House Hotel was built in classic New England vernacular with clapboards and painted trim similar to the previous four Glen Houses that have stood on its site since 1852.
The spacious guestrooms are reflective of the simplicity of Shaker design while the lobby embraces both the history of the Mt. Washington Auto Road and local Native American roots.
Although inspired by the past the technology of today separates The Glen House from its predecessors. The Glen House Hotel will be close to energy self-sufficient and carbon neutral thanks to a geothermal system that will provide heating and cooling as well as two offsite energy-generating projects harnessing hydro and solar power.
The Glen House Hotel is scheduled to open in Summer 2018 and features 68 guest rooms with balconies and spectacular views of Mount Washington.
