I’m maybe above average interested in history and traveling. When traveling I prefer good quality. And this place was far above expectations. And for vegan travelers, just tell and they will prepare a fantastic dish for you. The design was great. Both the bungalow and common areas. The staff is amazing, you feel welcome before you arrived and just getting better. Private swimming pool and the view fantastic. I was most impressed with the quality in all steps, food, staff, location. A small high end hotel 12 bungalows, for families and couples, yes for all Thank you for having me as your guest.

Clean spacious room with balcony, great bed, good Wi-Fi, nice staff. Hotel is located near a gas station with a convenient store. 10-minute walk to a night food market. There is a limited parking lot available for guests with cars. Breakfast is really limited offering only fry eggs, cereal, bread and jam, salad, and instant coffee. Nevertheless, if I happen to be in Kanchanaburi again I will consider this hotel again.

Sky hotel. KANCHANABURI - clean basic rooms, with a great pool, Luke warm water on shower, and very hard beds. Bad lighting for shaving and makeup. No coffee or tea is supplied, but you have a kettle and 1 cup. Very large fridge. Breakfast is across the rd , good price for hotel and breakfast. Out of hotel turn right follow road and you get too the main road with shops, bars & restaurants .

We stayed at the Cross River Kwai for 3 nights. Room was very comfortable and opened straight out on to the pool. Hotel was great in organising transfers to and from Bangkok for us as well as a private driver to go to Erawan National Park, Hellfire pass and a tour round the city. Location is a pro and con, the pro is that it’s quiet and right on the river which was great having spent 5 nights in Bangkok. But the hotel itself is quite far out of the city so not easy to get in to the city for dinner last minute ( we were travelling with a baby so this made it slightly harder). The restaurant is good but limited if you eat there for multiple meals. They were great about providing a cot for our little one but no other baby amenities were provided.

Located about 7km north west of the town, the staff are all friendly and helpful. I have rented a small motorbike to get me around, a necessity which means I can go where and when I desire, small money so no problem! Have been to the cemeteries and museums to pay my respect to ALL who suffered during those darkest of days. I have also been to the original wooden bridge constructed by the POW’s and others, it is located in the JEATH museum adjacent to the bridge that is in use these days. Entry cost 50 Baht, and there is so much to see that I took two hours inside, would recommend a morning visit so you can view the many items and read the facts behind them at your leisure. The museum has been set up by a local man and is most definitely worth visiting. 100% value for money! I mentioned to a Thai man inside that we were so grateful that people around the area did try to ease the suffering of the POWs, risking their own necks by doing so. My mother was an innocent child at 7 years old, alongside her mother and little sister she waved goodbye to her father, John Francis Egan, he said he was going to work for a while!! After working in Turkey, his ANZAC unit were moved on to Italy, to partake in one of the harder campaigns of the war. His life was taken by a German bullet at Mount Casino, alongside many many others! Please understand how one can feel. I try my hardest to be non judgmental and tolerant these days. I have not walked in your shoes and do not know your story. “Footsteps in the sand” comes to mind at this moment. I have PTSD myself, and I knew coming to Kanchanaburi may get emotional, and it has. Now my mother is 88 years young, and became a great grandma for the second time two weeks ago. Apologies if it got too personal, started as a review of the Phoo Tawan hotel. Great for a night right on the river. Rooms was basic, mattress on the floor, side table & a fan. Internet was fast and service was very frindly. A great place to unwind, and within walking distance to the New Bridge over the river Kwai and resturants. Heavy rain caused the river to rise (was the end of the monsoon season), so the walkway to the hut was a little flooded in the morning, but this just added to the charm. For a inexpensive night on the river, I can highly recommend Bamboo House.

The breakfast is exquisite and delicious, the log feels good in the room, the green environment is good, the riverside restaurant has a good view, the green trees become cute, the scenery is good, the blue sky, green water and the air are good, the service is good, the hotel location is good, not many tourists are quiet and good , The elderly and children say yes.
