We chose the upstairs family room with a view, we were not disappointed, a view straight down the lake, wow. The beds were comfortable, we had enough room for all of us, kitchen was adequate and the large bathroom was good. The lady in reception was very helpful with recommendations for dinner, breakfast, activities not just in Tekapo but around the MacKenzie Country. We have recommended this place to family and friends already, you will not be disappointed.
The lodge is in a beautiful location overlooking the lake and a short walk to town. The room was spacious and airy with large glass doors filling the room with light. There was space to sit outside to enjoy the view. The room was spotless and well equipped. There was a large bathroom. A suggestion would be to have bulk toiletries rather than the waste of little plastic bottles. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Parking beside the road. Self Checkin so need to arrange in advance to get the door access. The room a bit small but the facilities in room very new. Checking out on the dot as it’s peak season. Clothes still very wet after one round cotton function on dryer.
The house itself is very complete and new, but far from the lake, there is no lake view, and unfortunately, the day we went, it happened to catch up with the power outage in the town, there were no candles, and the emergency measures without lighting were a bit unacceptable!
We booked late, arrived even later but check in was so simple with a code for the digital door lock. A newly built residence, well appointed for families with 4 bedrooms, parking for 2 vehicles, very warm and cosy. Another plus, Two living areas so kids can settle and watch tv or play games in one whilst adults socialise in the main living area. Plenty of heating, plenty of blankets, no-one was cold. Highly recommend!
We are couple with a 5 year old girl. We paid SGD697.85 (Singapore dollar) for staying 2 nights in this “2 bedroom apartment” as stated.
3 points here to explain the terrible experience.
1. tv remote is not working. I don’t mind the owner making excuse like “ replied customer’s message within 20mins…..” but they actually took 29mins to reply (19:10 till 19:39). In fact, they didn’t manage to change the tv remote in the end. So I stayed 2 nights without using the TV!
2.there is no clear and obvious description that this “2 bedroom apartment” is actually an adjoining unit which means when u walked into the front door then there are 2 doors link to split parts of the apartment. The problem of adjoining units are thin walls are used to split the apartment into 2 small units. When u stay in this kind of apartment, u have to endure all kind of noises from whoever staying in neighboring rooms. We had 2 days enduring guesting from the other room shouting, slamming the door, kids screaming like crazy both early in the morning and afternoon!
3. When I reflect this bad experience with trip.com customer service, this hotel responded like they have no fault at all and played with words. This attitude makes us feel like being fooled. We paid money to expect to stay in an apartment with privacy and quiet environment but indeed we had such a bad experience!
In this market, if it’s an adjoining unit, they should not charge at the rate as if it’s an entire apartment.
I’m alright that they rejected to refund the extra amount they charged. Just have to reflect the facts in the review.
Thanks.
What an amazing place! This is a new property located about half a mile up from the village of Tekapo with lovely views over the mountains. We stayed in the one bedroom apartment and were bowled over by how well equipped it was, how new and clean everything was and how the owner had clearly labelled where things were. The bathroom (shower only) was terrific and clean and big. The living area had a kitchen with a hob, microwave (no oven), fridge, coffee table, settee, desk for working, dining table, large screen TV, excellent free Wi-Fi and good heating. There were also lots of storage areas. The bedroom had a good double bed in it. Free car parking outside. Altogether a lovely place - and good value, although quite pricy at £315 for two nights.

Outstanding
GGuest UserThe room was large and clean. There was a sofa bed in the living room that could accommodate five or six people. We caught fish at the salmon factory and cooked them in the kitchen at night. It was delicious.
GGuest UserThe female dorm room (4) was awesome. There were plenty of outlets to charge devices, plenty of storage for each person's luggage, comfy and spotless beds, and the room was super warm in winter! The hostel is quiet and modern, with gorgeous views across Lake Tekapo and a brilliant lounge with beanbags and sofas overlooking the view. The staff were super lovely and helpful. The bathrooms and kitchen were very clean. The location is right in the centre of the town near to the supermarket and Dark Sky Project centre.
GGuest UserBooked 1 night accommodation through an on-line booking site (Expedia). Unfortunately there was a problem with the booking in that they hadn't included my child in the booking so the accommodation booked (motel room) could only accommodate 2 people. Thankfully the staff were fantastic and managed to find us an alternative option for no extra cost. The cabin we stayed in was fantastic and the place has undergone a massive upgrade since we last stayed here in 2011. The cabin was clean, cosy and we had everything we needed for our staff. Great BBQ available outside of the cabin which we made use of for dinner & brekkie and location is superb. An adventure when travelling with a 6 year old as accommodation felt very safe. (lots of families around due to scholl holidays). Easy 5 min stroll to Tekapo Hot Springs. Would recommend and advise to just book directly with the accommodation rather than an on-line secondary service.
GGuest UserThis was by far the best place I stayed at while traveling through New Zealand, even though there wasn’t anyone there to check us in. The process was still incredibly easy—getting the check-in information emailed to me was simple and straightforward. When I arrived, the room was clean, modern, and cozy, and they even left us a small gift since it was Christmas Eve. It was such a thoughtful touch that made the stay feel extra special. The unit also had laundry facilities, which was a huge bonus after living out of our suitcases for over a week. I would definitely stay here again—it had everything we needed and more, making it feel like a home away from home.
GGuest UserA very comfortable little villa, close to the supermarket. The staff has a very good service attitude and will come to replenish the necessary supplies in the morning.
LLoklok magic momentI had an amazing stay at Peppers, which is located so close to the lake—it's incredibly convenient! The location made it easy to explore the surrounding area. The highlight of our stay, however, was the fantastic staff. A special shout-out to Aggie Sami, who went above and beyond to assist us. We accidentally left some of our belongings at the hotel, and Aggie was kind enough to arrange delivery all the way to Queenstown for us. Their helpfulness and attention to detail really made our experience memorable. Highly recommend staying here for both the location and exceptional service!
CCharmaine S—-Pros:
Everything was clean.
There was ample heating.
Relatively near the main tekapo area (1 min drive).
House was spacious.
Cons:
The wifi password was handwritten badly and it was a guessing game to get the password. Also uncontactable via email.
No barricade around the house and there’s other houses right next door. People could walk by your room / house windows and peer in. Which was what happened to me twice. Zero privacy unless curtains are fully drawn.
JJacq SGreat Stay Near Lake Tekapo!
The unit was sparkling clean and spacious, with a lovely courtyard to enjoy. The bed and pillows were clean and comfortable, ensuring a good night's rest.
Contrary to some reviews, no deposit was required, which was a pleasant surprise. The location is fantastic—less than a 5-minute drive to Lake Tekapo—and parking right in front of the unit was very convenient. The check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow.
The facilities were great overall especially kitchen amenities and 2in1 washer with dryer!
The dish wash machine helps lot on the kitchen cleaning work!
The only suggestion I have for improvement would be to add a fence in the shower area to separate the wet and dry zones, which would make it even better.
Overall, a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserThe room is clean and sanitary, and the kitchen tools are fully equipped. At night, you can just step out of the room and look up to watch the stars. It is close to Lake Tekapo and only takes a few minutes to drive there. There are many restaurants, gas stations and supermarkets nearby, which is very convenient.
GGuest UserDisadvantages
1. It takes 15 minutes to walk down from Intercity, all uphill, and on gravel roads, so it's too tiring to drag luggage.
2. Self-service check-in, no front desk. It's really inconvenient to have no front desk.
3. The wifi is unstable, always unable to open, and stuck.
4. My room faces the road, and there is no gauze curtain, so I can only choose between privacy and darkness.
5. All the service staff are Chinese, and their English is not good, but fortunately I am Chinese.
6. Although they are Chinese, they still feel quite impersonal. I, a girl, asked them to give me a ride when I checked out, but they all had cars, and it was only a 5-minute walk, but they didn't help. It just made people feel uncomfortable.
7. You need to learn garbage classification seriously, and you will be fined $50 if you misclassify. The documents guiding classification are all in English, and you need to be good at English, which is still quite complicated.
8. Although there is a kitchen, there is no induction cooker, only a microwave.
9. The quilts are quite dirty, but fortunately they give a blanket.
Advantages
1. There is no problem with electric blankets and heating. It's not cold even though it's so remote.
2. You can see the stars directly at night without joining a stargazing group.
