The food was very delicious and the room was beautiful
The view of the mountain from the room was beautiful, and the view from the corner seat I sat at breakfast was beautiful!
I want to use it again.
The sound of the air conditioner was loud and the ventilation fan was combined, so it was noisy. The facilities were luxurious because of the golf main, but the outside of the veranda was a high wall and the scenery was not visible. Cost-effective and recommended. From the entrance of the golf course to the inn, there was 1.5 kilometers and I was worried about the lights.

4 Senior backpackers in Japan ”stumbled” onto this gem of a Japanese inn next to the Arakawa River. Less than 10 minute walk from the Kami-Nagatoro station and 10 minute walk to Nagatoro Station. We chose location due to proximity to river and start of river boat downstream river ride-sites. We were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality shown throughout our two-day stay. We were late in coming out of the mountains of Gunma prefecture (2 hour plus train ride away) and called the inn to notify and were subsequently told that this was no problem for check-in and supper. Fortunately we made up time lost and got to the inn earlier that expected and enjoyed the serene tree-lined river and men's and women's communal furo (shower/bath also in rooms) with outdoor views before dining. Then...we were overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of the dinner! A real treat to get a 7+ course Japanese meal featuring the specialty vegetables and protein of the region! Upon departure we chose to walk with packs back to Kami-Nagatoro Station, along the river, but the proprietor had the Inn van ready and waiting to take us to the train station. The included breakfast's were also multi-course Japanese style, with regional specialties.
Granted, the hotel is somewhat time-worn, probably seeing its zenith in the 80's and 90's but all the facilities were cleaning, usable and safe. All staff went made a great effort to ensure that we were enjoying the locale and the Inn. This location, in our opinion is much more serene and ”touristy” than the main area surrounding Nagatoro station but is only 10 minutes walking from that action. If opportunity arises, we will return. The Saitama Museum of Natural is just across the street but this large and modern facility was not open on our late arrival and on Monday. We left on Tuesday morning, but wanted to visit this place also.
This century-old hotel is just next to the river. The scenery is like a painting. It is very difficult to get there. Although the hotel is undergoing some new projects, the breakfast and dinner are good. There is also a pedestrian street selling authentic products near the hotel. There is time to buy tickets near the station, there is a special car to pick up the boat to enjoy the scenery along the river, the boat and Cheng Dawei fifteen minutes, the stop is the hotel, a good choice.
Drinks (coffee, juice) were served at the lobby lounge before check-in. There are many beautiful pots, paintings, statues of Daikoku, photographs, etc. in the hall, and you will not get tired even if you walk around the hall. The room was an ordinary rectangular Japanese-style room because my spouse had reserved a room for some reason. The sweets in the room are Kurisuke, a Japanese confectionery directly managed by Wado, and delicious chestnut buns. The hot spring in the bath is a good hot spring (mineral spring) that smells of sulfur. It is said that the local people used this mineral spring for eye drops and cuts, and it was written in the Fudoki edited by the Edo Shogunate that it was the oldest hot spring in Chichibu, Yakushi-no-Yu. Dinner was served in the room. The local sake (nigori) was reasonably priced at 1100 yen for 300cc. Dinner was a variety of dishes using local Chichibu local cuisine and local products. The amount and number of items were so large that I could not finish eating them. I thought it would be good for young people and people who eat a lot (three kinds of meat dishes). Breakfast was a Japanese set menu. The side dishes were good, but the rice was hard and not good. Coffee, milk, etc., natto, yogurt, etc. were buffet style. After-meal coffee could be taken out to the room. I felt that the hospitality was also good.
Situated amid lush nature, Petit Hotel C’est La Vie offers a tranquil retreat in spacious Japanese-style and Western rooms, with or without a private open-air hot spring bath. It features a free Wi-Fi, while kayaking can be arranged. Guests at C’est La Vie can pamper themselves with unwind in the private-use outdoor hot spring bath. The hotel can assist guests to sign up for workshops in the area, including Japanese soba or udon noodle making and glass blowing. Kayaking and canoeing are available nearby. Luxurious rooms feature air conditioning and a seating area, while most come with an open-air hot spring bath, a terrace and a wooden floor. Each room is fitted with a TV with DVD player, a fridge and an attached bathroom with toiletries. Yukata robes are designed by renowned local painter Heiji Katsuno. Seasonally selected Japanese dishes are served at the dining room, for breakfast and dinner. C’est La Vie is only a 15-minute walk from Nogami Station on the Chichibu Tetsudo Line.
As soon as I arrived by car, they welcomed me and served me iced tea and maple flavored rusks in the lobby lounge. When you step out of the lounge, you can see the mountain stream flowing below and the greenery is beautiful. According to the hotel pamphlet, it was founded in 1956. This time, my companion booked a business plan, so the room was small, but it had a nice view of the greenery. I was a little concerned because there was a cleaning related smell in the bathroom area of the room as well. In addition, when I looked at the hotel pamphlet and YouTube, there was also a nice modern Japanese room. Now, about the bath, unfortunately, the open-air bath is a paid private bath until 18:30, and you can enter freely until 18:30. The bath area smelled of sulfur, but the hot spring in the indoor bath didn't smell of sulfur. You can see the mountain stream from the bath. It was also used by day trippers. Amenities are complete. The next morning, I went to the open-air bath. It was early in the morning and it was a semi-open-air bath with no windows, so it was nice to have a nice breeze. There are 3 washrooms. This open-air bath and the bath in the room are not hot springs. Dinner was a large venue, but there were empty spaces between the tables. It was a ryokan menu such as sashimi, tempura, and chawanmushi. Grilled rock fish and miso-grilled puta were delicious. The dessert was konjac black honey kinako. The thinly sliced cold konjac dessert was also delicious. Breakfast was a buffet with vinyl gloves and masks. There were also items that had a handmade feel, such as meat potatoes and aemono. The coffee and tea were also delicious. I was worried that the tableware that I finished eating was left on the table. Next time I would like to stay in a modern Japanese room.
