I also get the impression that the public bath is a little old. Personally, though, I don't really mind it, probably because my purpose is to return home rather than sightseeing, and it's spacious enough to relax. It's nice that you can enter until 9:30 a.m. (even late at night). Some people want more nature around them, but it's a short drive from the center of Akita City and Akita Station, so it's convenient for transportation, which was great. I would like to use it again.

I opted to do laundry in their coin operated washer-dryers and you can monitor the machines from your hotel room screen--pretty cool! HVAC control allowed us to use air conditioner (due to unexpectedly warm days) even though most hotels in Japan had switched to winter mode, so this was a plus. The only downside was that the 2 single beds were pushed together so one person had to climb out of bed over their bed since there was no space to put your foot down! We did not have breakfast there because when we decided to do so, they told us the dining room was full and we would have to wait 30 minutes.
