A solid choice with standard 3 star hotel facilities. The hotel is quite new and met expectations in almost all aspects. There was free coffee, tea, and water at the reception as well as a communal table - great for group dining, etc. The hotel itself is practically right outside of the airport compound, though it also means that it's quite away from everything else. The only thing we didn't like was the hotel didn't honor our breakfast entitlement despite us having shown the confirmation from the travel agent. The receptionist simply shrugged and said there was a system error.
Sima Sumba Hotel is a 4-star accommodation in Sumba that offers a great stay at an affordable price. The hotel itself is lovely, with comfortable rooms and well-maintained facilities. However, the food is rather average and could use some improvement in terms of variety and taste. One suggestion for the hotel management is to consider offering tours directly through the hotel. This would make it easier for guests, as they wouldn't have to go through the hassle of finding a tour agency on their own. Additionally, providing a taxi service with reasonable rates for guests' needs would be a great convenience and enhance the overall experience.
Very polite and prompt communication prior to arriving which is greatly appreciated seeing as it is rather remote location to be travelling to. From arrival you are treated with great hospitality and any questions/bookings/requests are handled with efficiency and confirmation prompt. Accomodation is super chic, comfortable and i was not left wanting. Plenty of info on website and in-room folder as well as access to whatsapp thread so u can always be connected if u want to be. 4 x of the best firm pillows at a hotel i have experienced. A lovely turn-down service (neaten up the room and a surprise on the bed!) i had forgotten Was a hotel service - it is a safe and trusting environment. I attended in low season and felt like i was waited on hand and foot which was a new experience but very welcome! Students and staff are genuinely lovely, warm and give you space to relax but also ready to engage with you if u wish. Drivers are amazingly talented should you wish to book a tour of the island, you will be comfortable and feel looked after as they whip u around the island to absorb the culture with your knowlegeable and friendly student tour guide - your friend for the day. I loved my time here and feel hopeful that my tourism dollars may be put towards a better future for one or some.
