What time is good: the room is clean, the bed is very comfortable, the breakfast is very good at your own expense, and the location is convenient near the train station.
A lot of bad things:
1. Very noisy! Every night, I can immerse myself in hearing the people downstairs drinking and chatting and shooting the table until 12 o'clock in the evening! ! Close to the street, the car is also very noisy. Why can't the hotel give us a higher and quiet room without guests? I still wake up with earplugs at night.
2. The staff basically did not see it, and the staff was not there every time they passed the front desk. When I checked in, I didn't tell us where the breakfast was.
3. The first night was booked directly with the hotel, and the second night was Trip.com. When I checked in, my brother said that the room type for two nights was different, but they had no other guests staying the next day and should be able to leave us in the room for the first night. The next day when we went to confirm, they also said at first that we should be able to continue to live in today's room. The result made us wait for ten minutes and then said that we had to pay 20 pounds to continue to live in the previous room.
4. The hotel does not have a bathtub, the price is a four- or five-star hotel, the price is relatively low
In short, I feel that the hotel cares more about running their restaurant and bar and adopts a waiver policy for the guest rooms.
Lovely hotel staff was friendly and helpful throughout the room its self was okay there was a few little niggles that could be improved but didn't affect our stay for one night the bed was super comfy defo would stop again if we was back in that area 😊
After an exceptional stay at the Wigan Holiday Inn Express on September 20th, 2024, I didn’t expect such a stark contrast in service at another location within the same hotel group the very next day (September 21st, 2024).
This time, we experienced a completely different attitude at the front desk—rudeness and dismissiveness. Despite multiple requests for assistance, such as having my room closer to my friend’s, an hour late check-out (which my friend was granted), and fixing the issue with my room’s air conditioning (my friend’s room was fine), we were met with vague, unhelpful explanations that treating a fool. It felt like dealing with political officials dodging direct answers.
For the first time ever, I left a hotel feeling genuinely angry. They might be better suited for a career in politics.

The room is big (designed for a family of four) decorated in nerf theme, kids would love it. All is good but our shower tap is not functioning well, only gives out boiling hot water which we had to use the bath and let the water cool down a bit before we can use a towel to wash. Not the best but image it’s a good place for family with young kids. Walls are thin, we can hear next door running and snoring. Ear plugs ensured a good night sleep :D
There was a problem when booking into hotel as we had gone through Trip.com and receptionist said that we had not paid as no confirmation had come over to them from third party.
We explained that we had paid showed her the relevant information on my phone etc -but still insisted that we had to pay .
We waited at reception for about 40 minutes while we waited for the receptionist and manager were in back room sorting it out. This in fact made us late for our evening meal - which we had to miss out on- as well as being late for our meet n greet showing at the Theatre Royal - which we also missed out on- It spoilt our evening - but the amenities and staff in the hotel were fabulous- especially the young girl who served us breakfast in the morning.x
The first time I visited this hotel, I felt good, the room was comfortable and the service was good. The only fly in the ointment is that there is no elevator, and it is a bit difficult to carry luggage to the second floor.

The hotel is definitely in the prime location of the town center with easy access to all the nice cafes and restaurants. Visited Warrington during the Creamfields weekend and therefore the hotel was more overpriced than usual. Clean towels were provided but there were no amenities such as the toothpaste or cotton pads so make sure you pack your own. No complimentary bottled water either, had to buy them from the restaurant downstairs. Good for short period of stay.
