My partner now requires an accessible room and restaurant/bar. Our experiences within the UK is varied but up until now we have not stayed anywhere where from our point of view accessibility has been seriously thought about. Let me say now that my husband can walk a little with a walker but generally reliant on a wheelchair but does not require a hoist. The Partridge has taken accessibility (for his level of disability) seriously, our room was lovely without too much furniture and plenty of turning space, the bathroom had a raised loo, plenty of handholds & wet room shower, everything was in good condition. From the room to the restaurant there were 3 or 4 stairs with a wheelchair lift attached. Staff were willing and able to help and made the stay a pleasure. One unrelated thing to note - the bar had a menu displayed with a long list of alcohol free drinks - as the driver in our family this was much appreciated, the coffee was unusually good as well. This is definitely a place we will stay again - we booked initially to give ourselves an overnight break between the Lake District, Martin Mere and our home in Reading. We had some family business to sort and needed to stay away from home for a very busy week. We had booked the Cat and Lion as it was the closest hotel that was available. We struck lucky, really lucky. The accommodation was good, quiet and not too big. The managers and all the staff were so friendly attentive and welcoming . A stay we were not expecting to enjoy became a pleasure, to be greeted with a genuine smile was so good and to be addressed by my first name at breakfast on the second morning was exceptional. Whilst our treatment was very good our dog Dudley was treated better. Very much another plus point. To all of the staff at the Cat and Lion a very big Thank you

1st the rooms ate very clean, the hotel is spotless. Some issues. The hotel states its dog friendly, this is true, but it's not clear on their website that not all rooms are dog friendly, so the superior room we had booked was downgraded, and a £20 fee added as a charge for the dog. If you are dog friendly then make sure you fully reflect this in the website. Evening meal in the restaurant, the staff were very friendly and efficient. It would appear that the full online menu is not available in the restaurant , a cut down version. Ok. We were advised that the Thai Green Curry was not available. Ok. We ordered, soon afterwards, we were advised that the beer battered onion rings was also off the menu. Hmm, so every is not freshly cooked, but pulled out of the freezer. Even an average chef could manage to produce a batter and cook onion rings, not difficult . Right, the room, is fine, but no ability to regulate the heat, reduced opening on the windows, didn't help. Right, breakfast. We arrived at 8:40, the restaurant was fairly empty. We were taken to a table. The staff appeared to be totality uninterested. We went to the buffet bar, no eggs, asked and were advised they were cooked to order. So we ordered two poached eggs and two fried eggs. No. They can't do fried eggs, only poached or scrambled. That confirms that nothing is actually cooked. No eggs, are they being serious? The scrambled arrived it appear to be swimming in some liquid, not pleasant. Right the cold buffet bar looked poor, the yoghurt was empty. No white bread to toast. The staff were not bothered to ask if we wanted our coffee topping up. At precisely 9:00 AM the staff kicked into action and cleared the hot food. I asked when did they stop serving, they answered 9:30, but they cleared everything away at 9:00. Paying customers who turned up after 9 looked dismayed at the empty hot buffet. The uninterested stsff had to go and get the food from the kitchen .I've stayed in a large number of hotels ranging from guest houses to 5 star, but have never seen such poor attitude at breakfast, a failure to fry an egg. Needs looking at..

We needed a place to stay in order to attend a colleague’s 50th Birthday Bash in Northwich. The location is quiet and rural with plenty of parking spaces and a well maintained exterior. Comms were excellent and instructions were clear. The accommodation varies by room with each having its own character and theme. Ours was ‘classic’ and was comfortable, clean and cordial. Of particular note was the shower! Wonderfully simple, controllable and powerful. Breakfast was plentiful, freshly made and personally served in a lovely, ‘solid’ farmhouse style dining room which has a cozy communal lounge off to one side where one can sit and relax outwith the bedrooms. The remote for the TV didn’t work, but this was fixed immediately with a smile. Cleaning staff friendly and approachable and nothing seemed like too much trouble. The overnight temperature during our stay was an unseasonal 25°! Very warm for September. Thankfully the windows opened widely and the quiet idyll of the Cheshire countryside didn’t intrude. We stayed three nights and really enjoyed this wee gem. Good value and high quality aren’t always found together. But they are at Wall Hill!

Me, my partner and a few friends stayed here as the location was perfect for a party we were all attending in the evening... this place was lively and the owner was fantastic..even let us leave our cars on the drive when whe checked out so we could go say goodbye to our friends.. we missed breakfast but they made us some sausage sandwiches for our journey back... will definitely be staying here again! The only little thing would be the shower pressure but apart from that everything was great... thank you so much for our stay!!

Stayed here to go to a Liverpool football match the next day and got to say not very impressed! There was 4 us but they only had 3 pillows & As we went out of the hotel to get dinner the gentleman at the desk said if we needed anymore pillows. I advised yes and if we could get these on the way back.. came back to the hotel to a woman on the front desk tell us no more pillows left! Me and partner ended up sharing 1 pillow and it was the worst nights sleep ever! The pull out bed was so uncomfortable I felt bad our little one sleeping on it! I know it’s a budget hotel but we all deserve a pillow each and at least a shower gel! We’ve slept better places for cheaper than here! We didn’t have the best experience at one of the Ibis hotels in Birmingham either last year! Will be sticking to Travel Lodge from now on!

Stayed at this hotel for a night. The location is nice up on the hill and surrounded by greenery. Service was excellent at the front desk and the restaurant. I like the breakfast a lot with food served at the right temperature. Variety is adequate. It is however a different story inside the rooms. One room has the floor lamp not working at all and curtains hanging without the hooks. The shower head was dripping in another room. Dust was all around the outlets of the air-conditioning unit and inside the lamp shades. The shower is so poorly designed that one cannot keep the bathroom floor dry at all after taking a shower. The rotten wood at the bottom of the bathroom door should give some hints. There are not many hotel choices in Runcorn. If the cleanliness can be improved this would be a very nice hotel.
