Great location close to all cafés, restaurants and marina. Clean stylish room, comfy bed, good self service breakfast - though at busy times finding a table can be a problem. If you like your window open during the night expect some noise from the surrounding streets. Five minute walk to underground carpark with special hotel rate. Recommended.
We stayed here for a short Anniversary trip to La Rochelle, and the hotel itself has a great location situated close to the Old Port and a stone’s throw from the Lantern Tower, large west car park, the beach and nearby animal parc. Furthermore it is on the doorstep of the semi-pedestrianised Rue St Jean du Perot and its multitude of restaurants that lead down to the harbourside. Although we stayed over during a bank holiday the Hotel was seemingly very quiet, a tribute to the soundproofing perhaps? Indeed we only realised that there were a lot of other guests when we saw them at Breakfast, which was buffet style and reasonably substantial. Our Exclusive room on the second floor was a bit too minimalist for my taste. There were no drawers for clothes, just a couple of open shelves next to a hanging space and there was not too much art in evidence although there was a large picture by the ground-floor entrance to the lift. On the negative side if you stop outside the main entrance to offload cases etc it is quite a circuitous route to get back behind the hotel to its own car park, which you have to pre-book (at a charge). We parked at ground level which is quite tight to get into. I never ventured down to the underground part of the Car park to see how accessible that was so can’t comment. On leaving the lift to walk to our room there was a damp/musty smell in the corridor and although it wasn’t too evident in our room we found that all our clothes smelt of it when we came home which wasn’t a pleasant reminder of one’s stay! Strangely for a city centre hotel in the room itself there was absolutely no hotel/town information booklet, or the usual tourist brochures one would associate with a location nor even a list of the TV Channels available on the flat screen in-room TV. Our trip did not afford us time to take in the ‘Spa’ part of the hotel. All I can say is that if there is such a facility it was not very well signposted. The bar did have a sign on it about the sauna but it implied that you had to give advance notice if you wanted to use it so that it could be switched on! I assume there was more to it than that but our short stay didn’t afford us the time to try it outif it was there.

Really was a teeny, tiny room and sleeping in a cupboard describes it extremely well, having said that it was ideal for a quick one night stay for 2 adults, don’t think I would like to have stayed any longer as not much storage, but the storage they had was quite effective. The bed was large enough and very comfortable but as someone said, the mattress protector was very cheap quality and made the bed so very hot, also the air conditioning was not that brilliant but it had been in the high 30 at the time of our stay so may have been that the air con could not cope with the heat. We actually slept on top of the duvet, solving the problem of the hot mattress protector and used the bottom sheet as a cover. Ibis really could do with sorting this problem out as it is not ideal. We felt the hotel was in a quiet position, felt safe and we did not have any problems with noisy street noise or noisy neighbours. The shower was very good. Not a lot of street parking but we managed to get in and it felt quite safe to leave the car, worked out at €4 for 2 hours and free between the hours of 12-2 and 6pm - 9am in the morning, free all day Sunday. There is one delivery space that you can pull in at for 10 mins if dropping luggage off and if available, but bare in mind this is a one way street so you can not block it with your car for unloading purposes. The Verdun car park is quite close by, maybe a 5-10 minute walk and apparently only €1 for the day at the weekend. The day we arrived it was torrential rain so we were glad of the street parking. Did not have breakfast as lots of bars and boulangeries nearby. Check in and out was 12pm. The staff were friendly and helpful, they also have luggage storage. One tip, just be careful with travel adaptors, the charging points are sort of upside down behind a kind of light baffle affair and very easy to unplug your devise and leave the adaptor behind….anyone wanting one you will find ours in room 107!
My favorite hotel on a recent driving trip in France. Rooms were nice size and felt new, clean, and luxury level. Breakfast, while perhaps a bit expensive, was very good with the best scrambled eggs, and all the other usual items you would expect on a breakfast buffet. All the staff were nice and gave me good parking tips. The hotel is in a good location just a couple blocks from the cathedral and about a 10 minute walk down to all the waterside cafes and restaurants. At the desk they gave me a map for a walking tour of New Rochelle. For me, an unexpected find was the 'Bunker Museum' if you are interested in WWII. Tip: about 12 minutes walk north is patisserie 'Reveur de Pain' -- make sure you have the right one as there is at least one other patisserie that you will pass before you get there -- anyway, Reveur de Pain is not to be missed. (You can also drive up there if you have a car.) Oh, yes, the most convenient parking for the hotel is if you can get the outdoor lot at Place Verdun. If full, you can go to the more expensive indoor lot, and then move your car later.
Various services and environmental sanitation are available, the service staff is also very friendly, the room network is also good, that is, the room area is a little small, and there is no slippers is not convenient.
This hotel is in a fantastic location, in the middle of many shops and restaurants. International brand shopping is within walking distance. The views from the window are outstanding. The bed is comfortable.
The front desk staff was very helpful in recommending places to eat and other sites.
My only complaint is that I found several hairs in the shower upon inspecting the room. This issue should be addressed with housekeeping.
The hotel is located in the centre of the city, just 5 minutes from the station. We were surprised by the excellent cleanliness of the room. The only concern is that the shower pressure is low. The room is isolated with a double glass but it is heard a little noise from outside but not disturbing.

Outstanding
DDr.HeinkeExcellent! The service is sensationally good. The rooms are clean, large enough with small kitchen and refrigerator. The pool is very well maintained and there is a pool bar. The hottest day of Europe, this hotel was our rescue. We had a problem with the car the staff was super nice and helped bring our car to the deep garage. The bar is well equipped and you get professional information for drink.
We used the wellness area with sauna, steam sauna and massage. There were overall only positive experiences. The staff is everybody in individual multilingual. Great! We're happy to come back.
MMaps58447611787Gorgeous boutique hotel right on Vieux port making it in the heart of the buzz around the port but noise wasn’t an issue at all. Everything was accessible and within a few minutes walk. Bus from the airport stopped right outside the hotel, train station is a 5 minute walk away. Room is v small and a bit cluttered but view from the room made up for it. Didn’t have a balcony (a few rooms have) but we loved looking out our window at the buzz around the port and watching the entertainment. It was spotlessly clean and was cleaned daily. Bathroom was bright and had great lighting, a rare in some hotels where you can barely see without turning all all lights. Minibar including water, coke and iced tea included which was a nice touch. Also got a plate of macarons and a little welcome card which again was lovely. Safe also included free of charge. Beds were very comfortable and plenty of sockets to charge phones etc. Staff were wonderful and so friendly. Didn’t have breakfast as there are so many places to chose from in the city. La Rochelle was amazing and I will hopefully come back and would have no hesitation in staying in La Tour de Nesle again.
MM8253FQjuliebArrived after cycling in the rain for most of the day so we were a bit dirty. The reception staff were not very welcoming and made me feel uncomfortable. The secure bicycle parking was outside in the car park and not even under cover. Whilst the room was nice and the bed comfortable the shower was poorly designed. The shower cubicle was tiny and the doors opened inward so getting in and out was difficult. The vent was in a cubicle next to the shower and did not do anything to remove steam. There was black mould on the ceiling above the shower and the tiles had been painted and this was peeling off. This is a very overpriced hotel for what it offers, there are other hotel chains that offer better quality and better value for money. It is located about 1.5 kilometres from the old town and there was nothing close by.
Very nice hotel, in a quiet area, 10 minutes walking from Vieux port! Near the Gabut area, the Aquarium and the Musee Maritime! You could find free parking in the surrounding streets! Very good value for money also. They have a very nice initiative with housekeeping. If you stay more than two nights, every day you skip the housekeeping you get a free drink per person, such as a draught beer, local wine, tea or coffee at the hotel bar! Also they have a good water dispenser where you can refill your bottles every day with cold water! Their breakfast was quite good, with nice bread, nice crepes and all the basics of a typical french breakfast! The only thing they lacked was some fresh vegetables such as a tomato, a cucumber or a lettuce and fresh fruits. The quality of the coffee could also be improved. Rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable with two pillows each. The only thing is that the carpet gives the room a dusty smell. Overall very good for its place and price, with friendly staff!
GGuest UserI really like this hotel, the location is perfect for the old town, with shops, bars, cafes etc within a few metres walk. The main transport square is only maybe 50m away, with lots of buses and bikes. It’s such a cool vibe inside the hotel, like 70’s style. Very friendly staff, very good value. The breakfast is ok, like a continental selection, nothing hot (apart from boiled eggs) but it’s fine. I’m on the second floor and here is a slight fan type noise all the time, it’s quieter as you go down each floor, but I’ve slept well. The veranda is a little grubby, as is the central outdoor area, but everything else is immaculate. Don’t expect that perfect modern hotel look, the bathroom for example looks “dated” but that’s the point - it’s really clean and looks so cool and homely, not like all the usual modern hotels that have no character. Good selection of books downstairs. I really like the place, originally booked 3 nights but extended that to just over a week which says something. Only marked 3 for Services as there’s not much else other than rooms, a chill out area and the breakfast room, so don’t expect spas/pools etc
I stayed 2 nights in this hotel with my 21 year old daughter in the first week in July. It's in a great position, down a beautiful street & a short walk to all the bustling restaurants along the port. The lady at check in was really lovely, friendly & informative (& again when we came back one night wanting a hot drink to take up to bed with us she helped us with this). The rooms were clean & the beds comfortable (I'm a bit fussy when it comes to what I sleep on but I had a great night sleep). We stayed midweek and didn't experience any issues with noise outside. The walls are a little thin and on rare occasions could hear next door but this didn't bother us at all & what this place offered overall more than made up for it. The shower cubicle was small so wouldn't suit everyone. I've been to La Rochelle many times and stayed at various hotels each time depending on who I'm traveling with (as a couple or large group). This place ticked all of the boxes and we weren't disappointed. On another note: I usually take a taxi from the airport but the queue was horrendous and after half an hour we decided to jump on the bus (it was Illico 1b) and it took us only a couple of minutes walk to the hotel from the Dames Blanches/St Nicholas bus stop....for under 2 euros each...so I'd do this again just to save taxi time, regardless of cost. Recommend this hotel....and of course beautiful La Rochelle. Ps. there's a lovely, buzzy restaurant opposite too with yummy food...it was packed so we had to take ourselves off to a nearby bar to have a drink & wait...worth it though as restaurant had great atmosphere. Enjoy!
KkarenctranStaff was friendly, which is important for me. Staff at reception printed off a Google map for me so that I could find my way to visit the church that I wanted, so the hotel is really good value for the money! Rooms clean, bed comfortable. There was a free parking space available across the street so used that.
GGuest UserOverall it's very good, the front desk is patient and responsible! The hotel management is very good. The door will be closed at night, and you need the password given in the key card to open the door. It feels very safe; the hotel and the room are also very clean! The city is beautiful. It takes 15/20 minutes to walk or take the bus to the beach. It is well worth a visit!
Disappointing. Read the write up and thought it would be a nice spa hotel...nope more like a hostel with a steam room(which was closed) and a. school type swimming pool which is dated and nothing like the photos. We've spent 3 weeks travelling Spain and France and this was our last place and our least favourite of the whole trip. Positives- friendly staff on arrival, underground parking (worth paying. for as roads nearby are full of cars), room is clean and has a cute kitchenette so we could cook a meal after a very long drive. It's a basic hotel and worth a stop over but wouldn't stay again - sorry
