Our airline cancelled our flight from Tenerife South Airport at the last minute, and rerouted us via the North airport the next day and we had to very quickly book our own accommodation for the night. Booked through Bookings.com pretty much based on proximity to the airport as we had a very early flight the next day. After all the stress of the day the reception staff were lovely and welcoming. Our room was massive and well equipped. We eat at the hotel and it was good and also very reasonable. Due to the early flight and the clocks going forward we were a little anxious that we would set our alarms incorrectly or they wouldn’t update overnight. The night receptionist said he would do a walk up call for us and also would have a grab bag for breakfast waiting for us, as well as organising a taxi. The call happened and the breakfast bag was waiting for us with the Taxi. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and made what was a very stressful time very pleasant, thank you.

The apartment was pretty good and had the basics like a small kitchen, washing machine, etc. It could definitely use some renovation, but overall everything was fine. I was on the 8th floor and the view from the balcony was really nice. There is also a rooftop terrace which is great. Location is good, you can easily walk to the farmer’s market and city centre, and there is also a bus stop in front of the building.
Lovely hostel in the city center. Everything in walking distance. Clean and friendly staff, but the rooms are in urgent need of renovation and the photos have nothing to do with the actual conditions. Difficult to sleep with frequent switching on the lights in the common areas, which shines through see through glass parts in the doors.
Almost one year after my stay at Hotel Colon Rambla in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with my two boys, I find myself reminiscing that this was a really wonderful week. I was actually going for a conference, which first had advertised Colon Rambla as the conference hotel, and the switched to a different hotel. I'm very happy that I kept my booking at Colon Rambla. We had a very spacious family room, right in front of the swimming pool. It was really not a room, more like a three-room apar**ent. Each of those three rooms was larger than a standard room in most high-end hotels I have visited. The general interior also left a very high-end feeling, reminding me of posh condominiums in Singapore. There were some small issues with the beds (would have preferred proper double beds over these easily movable twin beds) and with the aircon (no aircon in the bedrooms if I remember right) but these were only minor nuisances and I slept much better than in most other hotels. Both beds and pillows had OK firmness to my taste. The breakfast was decent, but after a week I started to get a bit tired of the same selection. The boys never got tired, as it had all they ever wanted. We also had dinner several times at the hotel. The kids loved the restaurant. My oldest kid loved the tuna tartar, while the youngest was happy they could also prepare more kidfriendly meals. However, one of the things I really like with the hotel is that it is not too far to walk to a much larger variety of eating options in Santa Cruz. It is also not too far from the Parqua Garcia Sanabria, a kind of small arboretum in the middel of Santa Cruz. My youngest kid loved visiting this park every day, too look at the trees, to play at the playgrounds, or just to eat ice cream. For going to the beach (Playa de Las Teresitas) the hotel reception was helpful with booking a taxi. I found the hotel staff friendly and helpful. What made this the best holiday ever was the serene swimming pool right outside our room. We had this treasure for ourself about 70% of the time. I believe the minimum depth is about 1.20, so a kid below 1.30 or so who cannot swim may not be able to appreciate it. But this is where my youngest kid, at 1.27, definitely learned to swim. And after this, he practically lived in the pool. For one week we paid slightly more than 1000 euros, which I think is quite reasonable for a hotel (room) of this standard.
