Best Hoxter Hotels

We were in Höxter at the LaGa and had to escape in the Höxter-Ovenhausen for the city no room was to get anymore. The first impression of the hotel is spectacular, a landhouse that has come in the years, located on the crossing road. At the second eyes, you note efforts to improve the first impression punctually. We were staying in the guest house behind the hotel and made similar impressions. We had booked a “Deluxe double room with balcony” and then were positively surprised when we received the room. The room was generous, renovated and fully furnished. The same applies to the bathroom, the generous, deep shower was very pleasant here. In this room we felt very well 2 nights.

This is a historic German hotel in the nice town of Holzminden. It is a small hotel consisting of two buildings. One is a little more modern then the other. I had a room in the less modern building. There is no elevator, so hauling luggage up the flight of stairs was tiring. My room was very typical by European standards - very small but basically functional. It was very well lit and had nice natural light as well. A closet and shelf for your suitcase assisted in keeping the room tidy. The beds are very hard. It is a wood slab with a foam mattress on top. While I like my bed on the harder side, this was really hard and I woke up with sore muscles. Also there is no thermostat in the room so you cannot control the temperature. It got cold in the room at night (though I like sleeping cold). And there is no air conditioning so I image the room will get very warm in summer. The rooms are older in the building I was in so the wear and tear is showing. Service was outstanding. The proprietor was jovial and friendly and more than happy to help with anything you need. Breakfast was delicious and fresh each morning. One evening our group had an Italian night buffet dinner in the restaurant and it was terrific. Restaurant service is wonderful and friendly. Holzminden is a lovely town and I very much enjoyed my visit.

Zimmer sind okay, relativ klein, kleine Dusche, fester Duschkopf in großer Höhe. Früchstück mit wenig Abwechslung, immer Rührei mit Grilltomaten, kein Speck, keine Würstchen, kein Tomate-Mozarella, immer der gleiche Schmierkäse (es fehlte Kräuterschmierkäse ö. ä). keine Kaffeespezialitäten. Abendessen fast immer mit den gleichen Salaten , nur ein Dressing, dafür immer das gleiche (TK?). Es fehlte eigentlich immer irgendetwas, beim Schnitzel Zitronen, bei den Kartoffelecken Kräuterdipp oder zumindest Mayo... Schade, dass die Küche so eingefahren ist. Dafür war die Zwiebelsuppe (Brühe mit Zwiebeln) derart scharf, das sie fast jeder stehen gelassen hat. Einmal wurde so schnell abgeräumt, obwohl noch reichlich Essen da war, und sicher der ein oder andere vielleicht noch einen Nachschlag genommen hätte. Auf Nachfrage, ob noch Dessert übrig ist, wurde dieses erst bei Bezahlung verneint, am nächsten Morgen stand das dieses Dessert beim Frühstück. Da fühlt man sich als Kunde doch herzlich willkommen :-(. Insgesamt war das Abendbuffet recht langweilig, es fehlten individuelle, leckere Kreationen. Nahrungsaufnahme trifft es eigentlich ganz gut. Getränkeauswahl zu klein, dafür relativ teuer (Kräuterschnaps für 4,20), oftmals war die Rezeption trotz Klingeln nicht besetzt und wenn, dann öfter unfreundlich. Der Startpunkt für Touren ins Weserbergland war gut, der Weserblick war nicht von allen Zimmern möglich, ein Zugang zur Weser bestand leider nicht. Der Weg zum überdachten Motorradplatz besteht aus Schotter. Mehr als 10 Motorräder finden hier kaum Platz.
