The service in Bhutan is actually quite good, but this Le Méridien is very frustrating. When I arrived, no one helped me with my luggage. I went to the front desk last night to reserve a take away breakfast for this morning, but when I went in the morning, they said it was not available and asked me to wait. I couldn't wait even if I had an early flight. 😅 The service is far worse than other hotels in Bhutan.
Zhiwaling Heritage is the property in Bhutan to be wholly Bhutanese owned and operated. We are also the only property in Bhutan to be certified as one of the unique lodges by National geographic. From our exterior adorned with intricately carved woodwork and traditional stone work, to our interior embellished with hand-painted murals and traditionally hand carved Bhutanese motifs, our hotel pays homage to the ‘Dzongs’ or fortresses of Bhutan, showcasing the country’s rich and unique architectural heritage. Zhiwaling seamlessly blends our traditional roots with modern comforts. The hotel is equipped with Swedish technology underfloor heating and electric golf carts to whisk guests’ luggage to the rooms located in the eight cottages, named after each of the ‘Eight Lucky Signs’. Each sign or symbol represents a specific aspect of Buddhist teachings and is believed to bring blessings and good fortune to those who encounter them.

We, a family of 6, 2 senior citizens, 2 adults, 1 9 yr kid and 1 infant stayed in khamsum thimpu and khamsum paro in april 2024 end. Their manager mrs. Usmita was very cordial during our stay. The rooms given to us were fantastic. Being a veg hotel, amazing jain food was easily available at their restaurant. For a few local dishes, mars usmita actually went out of the menu and made us enjoy the delicacies. (for jains like me, there is a veg cafe named mountain cafe, very close by at both places which even has a jain / vegan menu) mrs usmita helped arrange for one of the best hot stone baths in paro for all of us. My 9 year kid too enjoyed it a lot. Absolute value for money hotel. A must book place for jain, vegan and vegetarian travellers.
Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff. Most friendly and helpful receptionist and staff ever, lovely and great first impression of hotel. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean, stylish, roomy with excellent service in where we had dinner. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I was very pleased with my stay. I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future

Perfect
GGuest UserEverything was amazing right from the word go. The hospitality and cuisine were top drawer stuff. The host took time to drop and pick me up at the inaugural ceremony of the first royal bhutan festival amid-st heavy rains. Looking forward to visit again. Recommend strongly for any first time visitors and i am sure who will automatically make this venue a permanent one.
GGuest UserLocation - excellent food - average. The food needs variety and taste. Service- varies. Poor- any minor change from the menu served, they levy extra charge. Good- room service is prompt. Hygiene - the towels are not very fresh and bathroom does not smell very fresh, maybe due to poor ventilation in the bathroom. Amenities: the resort needs to keep a luggage weighing scale for international travellers. The property has been an orchard and farm house. Morning walks are good within the resort.
GGuest UserVery nice hotel very neat and clean 5 star facilities centrally located very nice and courteous staff service is excellent food is top notch overall you will feel like a 5 star hotel
GGuest UserThe location and the look of the property was very quaint. We went in the winter so the paddy fields all around were barren, as the harvest season was over … but we could imagine how beautiful it would have looked when the fields were lush green! The decor of the space emulates a traditional village house. The old block and the new block upper floor rooms look more authentic than the ground floor rooms! However, the upper floor rooms are more colder and are not the best for the winter months! The room furniture and decor was a bit basic and could have been better curated. The rooms in the new blocks in the ground floor could have been a bit better for the price! We felt a little restricted with the breakfast menu. As a person with diabetise, I did not find much food options. The menu offered was too narrow and restrictive. Only watermelon, eggs, bread n butter, and a choice of Aloo puri or Aloo paratha and tea or coffee. For the price this was too basic a choice. Also, the last time to serve breakfast was 9am, which can be a problem if you are not an early riser! It should be atleast extended to 10am, if not 10:30am! One major problem was a lack of running hot water. It took almost 3min for the heater to warm up even after turning it on for a long time! One had to keep the tap open for a while before hot water started flowing. It’s a huge waste of water. Also, the supply was patch and the water will turn cold every once in a while. It a winter country, inconsistent hot water supply can be a big problem. The staff were compliant but not very engaging! Overall an average experience!!
