Disappointing Stay — Not Worth the Price (Yet) We had high hopes for this hotel but were left extremely disappointed. It's clear they're trying to recoup their investment quickly, even if it comes at the cost of guest experience—and possibly even security. Location & Arrival: The area around the hotel still feels underdeveloped, with barren lots lining the approach. Upon arrival, the valet informed us EV charging stations weren’t working, but they would still be charging us $65 per night for parking. The valet asked for our names and Marriott membership status (we’re lifetime platinum), which made us think they were relaying info to the front desk. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Check-in was disorganized—no elite line, no greeting, no recognition of status. The only “perk” offered was a $10 market voucher. No upgrade was mentioned. Room & Facilities: The room was fine overall but had clear signs of ongoing fixes—like improperly venting fridge cabinets. The property is still in a semi-finished state, which would be fine if the experience matched the price. It doesn’t. Pool Experience & Service: The pool area was a mess. On day one, we sat by the Jacuzzi hoping to order food. No servers came by. When I flagged down a staff member, they said they weren’t a server but would send someone. No one came. I ended up going to the Shallow End restaurant myself. It was loud and chaotic, and after ordering, I wasn’t even sure I got the right food—it was just sitting on the bar, unclaimed. Day two at the pool was even worse—completely packed. We brought our own food this time. And keep in mind, this is with only half the rooms operational. I can’t imagine the chaos once the hotel is at full capacity. Security Concerns: The most concerning part: someone stole my wife’s credit card from her bag while we were at the pool. We only realized it as we were leaving and saw unauthorized charges pop up. This made us feel extremely unsafe. Departure: At checkout, we called down for our car. When we arrived at the valet, our keys were still in the box and the car was missing. It took another 20 minutes to locate it after asking us what kind of car it was. Bottom Line: This hotel might have potential, but it’s not ready. Between lackluster service, poor organization, and serious safety issues, I can’t recommend staying here—especially at their current price point. I’d suggest waiting at least a year before considering a visit. There are far better options for the same (or less) money elsewhere in San Diego
