First, since our check-in time was close to breakfast's end, we were very grateful that the B&B still provided a small set meal. Dinner was simple, but delicious. The housekeeper also thoughtfully prepared a breakfast box the next day.
The village gardens are well-maintained, but the rooms have some flaws that outweigh the positives. Some suggestions after our stay: 1. The 1,000 yuan deposit required upon check-in seems to be a fear of losing something, which can dampen guests' spending. 2. We don't like air conditioning, but it was very hot in July, and we felt dizzy and had a mild case of heatstroke. The room is spacious, but the air conditioning doesn't provide a cooling effect, failing to maintain a uniform temperature throughout. If we were to host a group building, we'd definitely have complaints from our group. 3. While there's an attempt at design throughout, the flow of guests' movements isn't considered, and many details are still unfinished. For example: 1. There's something hanging above the sofa table, making it easy for heads to bump against it. 2. The TV, while ideally placed in the living room, is facing the bed (so you can only watch TV in bed!?). 3. There's no power outlet near the wooden table. 4. The bathtub lacks handles, making it difficult to get out and potentially dangerous. 5. There's no mini-fridge in the room. 6. The bedside outlets can't accommodate standard plugs. 7. For a boutique B&B, the lack of laundry service undermines its boutique status.
While other standard B&Bs offer these amenities and services, Pucun is truly disappointing. Advice from a seasoned tour guide.
