Lovely room and gardens. Food service a bit hit and miss. Both breakfast requests resulted in mistakes by the young staff but overall the experience was fine and would recommend.

I visited Stanton Manor for afternoon tea with my family to celebrate a 30th birthday. We were greeted warmly at this fabulous historic manor house and service throughout the afternoon was excellent and unobtrusive. The afternoon tea was superb and beautifully presented. The setting of the house is gorgeous with lovely gardens. We had a wonderful afternoon. Thank you, Stanton Manor for making our day so special.

We were staying down in Chippenham for the weekend to attend my cousins wedding, and stayed here from Friday until sunday. I understand that the new owners have not been here very long, and are doing there very best to refurb everything, and bearing in mind this is quite a large hotel with large gardens, it may take them sometime. My wife and I had a standard room, and so did my two sisters, however I really believe these should be classed as single rooms not as a double, as they are very small, and so is the ensuite. The room and ensuite were very clean, but need a refurb, which to be fair is probably on the cards. That said it was a reasonable price, and next time I would go for an upgrade. The staff were all very good, and friendly, particularly the young gentleman that was on the reception, who seemed to be covering everything, from manning the reception, taking bookings, serving in the restaurant and the bar, and sorting out any guest problems. He is worth his weight in gold. We only had experience of the breakfast, and this was excellent, I had a full english, and I would guess the food was locally sourced. However my sister also had some food sent to her room, which was a baguette, she said it was lovely. My cousin and his wife joined us for breakfast on the Sunday, although they were not staying at the hotel, and the staff again were very obliging. The gardens are lovely, and need a lot of upkeep, and I understand they are trying to improve them all the time. Just off the M4, and handy for everything around.

There is a very big difference between standard and superior rooms so if the price difference is t great, go for superior Very large room, lovely view, very very nice bathroom… Std room very very small and tiny awkward unpleasant bathroom Good bed tho. Rest of hotel is attractive, old, very nice grounds and staff Didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food

Myself and 2 friends visited for afternoon tea. Should have been 4 of us but 1 couldn’t make it. Just as well because there certainly wasn’t the quantity of food to feed 4. Sandwiches were mediocre, scones could have been deemed a dangerous weapon they were that hard and the cakes………I’ve seen bigger stamps on my Christmas cards ‍♀️ You say on your website that they are baked in house by your chef. Well may I suggest you look for another one who can bake. The service was diabolical. It should have been a lovely relaxing afternoon but I was up and down like a brides nightie trying to find a member of staff to get us sugar, sweeteners, more tea, more milk. I certainly got my daily steps in. Then we decided to sit out on the terrace. Amothernightmare as we struggled to find 3 chairs that weren’t wonky and falling apart. Definitely the worst afternoon tea we have had and definitely won’t be coming back and certainly wouldn’t recommend it

Needing to be near the M4 but close enough to be troubled by noise I booked a 2 night break at Stanton Manor. The location was perfect, tucked away in a sleepy village yet with shops and pubs within very easy reach. On arrival I was greeted, checked in and had both the restaurant/breakfast and bar facilities explained to me. The room I’d booked was a Superior Room in the older part of the building, it retained character features, plenty of wardrobe space, a high pressure shower and seating area with tea, coffee and biscuits. The bed was fabulously comfortable and the black out curtains aided a great nights sleep. Breakfast was quite a treat, several courses being available and everything presented and cooked perfectly. My stay was a mixture of business and pleasure, the room offered the opportunity to work in peace as did one of the rooms off the bar area - complete with fabulous views. The grounds are well worth a wander around, a mix of tended areas and natural growth works really well, a peaceful oasis. I’d have no hesitation in recommending Stanton Manor for anyone thinking of visiting, the hotel was fabulous and the staff a credit. I’l be retuning soon.

The grounds of this hotel are really nice and unfortunately for us this where it ended. Our welcome at reception was not really much of one and were quickly given our room key. Then came the disappointment… our room was so dated, tired and down right depressing. It was obviously nothing like the pictures we had seen online before booking and was not recently renovated. We visited the bar and ordered a drink and also a snack from the menu. The food was presented well but average at best. Breakfast was slow and somewhat restricted in terms of menu options if you had paid for breakfast as part of your room which was really odd. Sadly, we felt quite disappointed for paying so much for a room which was not worth the stay.

We celebrated Father’s Day at Stanton Manor as it’s perfectly situated, just off the M4 and great when party members were travelling from Cardiff and Southampton. This was our 2nd visit, we had been for a wonderful afternoon tea over Easter and this time were keen to try Sunday lunch which did not disappoint. We were made to feel so very welcome and the staff looked after our every need. The lunch was delicious and very good value. The gardens are stunning and it was a very relaxing afternoon. Our son’s puppy was also able to have a fun time and enjoyed his visit! Thank you, we will be back soon
