Not sure what had happened to this hotel. The hotel now seems to used by loads of tradespeople, all who were standing outside smoking and talking loudly well into the night. We didn’t really feel very safe having to walk past them in the evening. The carpark was nearly full including badly parked vans some of which were parked on the kerbs. We also visit found our room to be a bit tired looking. The window didn’t shut properly, there were marks on the walls and the bathroom light was faulty. We used to like staying here but we won’t be going back.

Lovely hotel, polite and friendly staff, ample parking, excellent location in the heart of town. Only negative is the stains on the bathroom walls that could easily be removed with a little more attention to detail and the cold tap hardly let out any water. Unfortunately there wasn't any real ale available whilst we were there thus stopping us from enjoying that facility.

After booking the wedding venue over 12 months ago, we were a little apprehensive when things went quiet after the hotel was sold. With new owners from January, Elise and the team pulled out all the stops for the big day and were extremely attentive and professional. Having the use of the manor to ourselves was perfect and we had lots of positive comments from guests from those travelling to those that knew Stanton from old. Elise especially helped the planning go smoothly and was happy to accommodate requests to change a few things. Ok some of the bedrooms and reception are looking a little tired, but the family owned hotel have worked hard to start renovations without disrupting the day to day running of the hotel. A big shout out too to Jordan for the amazing food he produced on the Friday night as well as the wedding breakfast. We will certainly be back for Sunday lunch in the near future and I would definitely recommend anyone planning a wedding to look at this venue.
