Premier Inn Wirral (Childer Thornton)

This review is for two members of staff that made my stay worth every penny and more. Me and my partner stayed for two nights and received the best service we have had in any previous hotel we have stayed at. Matt who greeted us at check-in was everything you would want in an employee… He was well mannered, had a smile on his face and made you feel welcome. During are stay he went above and beyond to cater not only to us but everyone else staying in the hotel. Nothing was to much for him and at one point I had to ask if he had a twin working. Matt was everywhere from greeting you, serving you your meal and drinks, putting out fresh bedding even carrying luggage to people’s rooms. If you ever stay here I hope that you meet this gentleman he will make your stay as best as he can to his capabilities. Thank you Matt you are a credit to this company. Jane I believe took over from Matt as night staff. I did not have many encounters with her as it was late, but what short encounters I did I couldn’t ask for more. Her welcoming smile and how professional she dealt with an issue I had one night was incredible. She took the time out of her shift to speak and listen to me and do everything she could to make my stay as comfortable as possible. I can’t say much more about Jane but I believe if I had met her working in the day I would have more to say and she would have excelled like Matt did. I stayed at the Premier Inn Childer Thornton overnight while travelling for a business meeting. I usually choose Premier Inn for its reliable standards - you know what to expect. Unfortunately, this hotel fell well below those expectations. The building and rooms felt very tired and poorly maintained. There was no air conditioning or fans provided, and the entire place was unbearably hot. I couldn’t sleep at all due to the stifling temperature. The bathroom had visible mould on the walls and behind the bath taps; which made the space feel unclean and neglected. The restaurant experience was also frustrating. It was just as hot as the rooms, making dining very uncomfortable. Although the staff were absolutely lovely and doing their best, the service was incredibly slow. I waited an hour just to receive a prawn cocktail starter and a tomato linguine main—not acceptable, especially when all I wanted was a quick meal before a restless night. Overall, a very disappointing stay. I’d strongly recommend avoiding this location until some serious investment is made in cleanliness, maintenance and comfort.

We were given a warm welcome be Matt on arrival and also the young lady serving in the restaurant. However, the hotel itself was about to be refurbished and was clearly overdue. The food left a lot to be desired. We had booked and paid for two nights, but left after the first night. I have to stress that the staff, particularly Matt, did their best given the state of the hotel
