Arrived late but check-in was fast.
I also remember the cheerful hotelier who told me where to have dinner nearby. The spacious room and bathroom were nice.

We had the pleasure of working with Giorgio, Stefano, Daniel, and Giada from Hotel Excelsior for our wedding, and we were truly blown away by their exceptional service. Coordinating accommodations for over 100 guests from around the world—Dubai, New York, London, and Melbourne—was no small task, but the team made it look effortless. Despite all the different check-in and check-out dates and special requirements, they handled every inquiry and booking with utmost care and professionalism. Giorgio and his team went above and beyond by preparing personalized snack bags for each guest and putting together a beautiful brunch on the day of the wedding. The thoughtfulness behind these gestures made us feel incredibly special. It was clear they genuinely cared about our event and guests. Something that truly touched our hearts was when the hotel staff took it upon themselves to help guests who had - on various occasions - missed the pre-arranged shuttle buses to the wedding venues. Instead of calling a cab or leaving it to the guest to solve the problem, they elected to DRIVE THE GUESTS THEMSELVES! This level of thoughtfulness and care is something we will never forget. It wasn’t just about fulfilling a duty; it was about making sure our guests were looked after in the most personal and considerate way. We will forever be indebted to them for their kindness. Our guests felt completely at home during their stay, and we owe that to the incredible efforts of Giorgio, Stefano, Daniel, and Giada. They made the weekend comfortable, memorable, and seamless. We couldn't recommend Hotel Excelsior enough for any event—thank you all for everything!

L’albergo, in apparenza, sembra caratterizzato da uno stile Belle Epoque ma in realtà è coevo dell’età d’oro del termalismo quando Chianciano era luogo d’incontro e di svago della borghesia nostrana e alcuni ambienti sono ancora sfarzosi come erano a quel tempo, ormai lontano. Oggi questa “grandeur” è un miraggio presto disvelato in quanto il prezzo modico, il servizio essenziale e modesto, la ristorazione da mensa aziendale, le camere vetuste e scricchiolanti, i bagni vecchi e poco efficienti con poca cura per la pulizia (in vari giorni le lenzuola non sono mai state cambiate) rendono l’albergo degno di un due stelle.

Arredamento bellissimo. Tutto vintage. Forse troppo. Aria condizionata top. Piscina carina. Niente di che. Bisogna andare su una passerella x accedere alla struttura. Colazione niente di che. La ricevuta la devi chiedere se la vuoi. E caliamo un velo. Sai. Ci sta. Distrazione. I tappeti delle scale tutti rotti. Tende scale rotte. Tappeti ai piani consumati. Hotel ex di lusso quattro stelle ma ne ha persa almeno un'altra, ci ho dormito due notti, il personale è stato quasi sempre disponibile e cortese, ma non può fare miracoli, nella struttura è molto curata la pulizia, un po' meno la manutenzione, l'aria condizionata nella mia camera non riusciva a raffreddare abbastanza, nella camera adiacente proprio non raffreddava, il bagno era probabilmente appena stato ristrutturato e quindi merita un'ottima valutazione. The rooms are stuck in the 80s: hard pillows, uncomfortable mattress (but that depends on your taste!) and old and ruined bathroom. I wanted to make myself a herbal tea but the kettle already had water in it which came out brown: who knows how many years it had been there. Even when I rinsed it some brown still came out. A mess.
