Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chesterfield - Selfridge Area

Reviews often tell more about the reviewer than about the product or service reviewed. They must all be read with caution. We were "on the road" when my wife reserved a room at this facility for the night. At 7:00 pm on the night of our intended stay, we received a call from the "front desk" advising no rooms were available. A "system glitch" resulted in over-booking. I asked the "clerk" to email us confirmation. She stated she had to call her manager at home for permission. She called back to say "No!" I was astounded and expressed my objection. The clerk stated that she thought I was "abusive" as had been my wife too whom she had first spoken. My wife and I were both employed in customer-oriented businesses. We do NOT verbally abuse anyone's staff. The clerk terminated the call. We found a "no-tell" motel to rest our head after 13 1/2 hours of driving. The next morning, we received an email confirming cancellation of our room. And we then discovered a pending charge for that room we never had a chance to occupy!! I spoke to the front desk...a different clerk...who said he would speak to the manager. I heard nothing more and the room charge was posted to my account. It was disputed of course but the questions remain; did the facility over-book? Why did the facility levy a charge? Why did the facility not reverse the charge if it was levied unintentionally? This experience has soured us against IHG even though we understand most facilities are individually owned. I'm hopeful that IHG will exercise its right to oversight.

Clean but disappointing The jet tub in our room, which i paid extra to have did not work. When i went to call the front desk regarding the problem the phone did not work. I did go to the front desk in regards to the tub and was told it had a leak. Check out time there was 11. Check in time is 3 i feel we should have been told before checking in and offered a reimbursment or more then the 20.00 i was offered and did not receive.

An amazing stay It was very clean, front desk was very helpful and the breakfast was really good.

We had loud neighbors throughout our stay, both next door, across the hall and above us! Every day there was a dirty wet puddle in front of and in the elevator. Most issues had more to do with other guests than staff although the morning housekeeping could listen to their music a little quieter.

The front desk was not as friendly nor welcoming. When we entered The room was not cleaned Under the bed was a maxi pad in clear view which lets me know a thorough cleaning was not done. We mentioned it to front desk but had to wait until the next day. The bathroom was dirty. The tub could use Brillo and the floor was not properly swept and walls dirty. There was dirt build up in the corners of the floor. Garbage was outside in the tiny garbage cans that sits by the doors overflowed. The location is good. Right off the highway and close to Walmart and other stores as well as fast food. If you just need a place to sleep it’s not a bad location but if you expect 4star or better this is not it.

I liked everything. My only complaint was at the start the toilet wasn’t completely flushing but it ended up being fine after the first day
