Cbh Rowton Hall Hotel and Spa

This was a return visit to Rowton Hall 2 years on. The welcome was not warm, the receptionist merely wanting to take our money before showing us the room, nor did she ask if we had had a pleasant journey or come far (4 1/2 hr drive). In fact, no pleasantries whatsoever. We had booked the Fairfax room (premier room) for 3 nights, which is large with a very comfortable queen size bed & high quality linen & pillows, but the room is generally a little tired. An armchair in the room needs attention (see photo). The shower is not the one shown on the web, it is small as the bath takes up most of the space. The shower surround is also in need of attention (see photo). The pool in the spa is lovely, the showers are much better there. The net curtain at the window of the bathroom was mouldy in places & needs to be replaced (see photo). The carpet was stained in many places, (see photos). Why not spot clean before the next guest arrives? We asked for a bulb that was not working in a dressing table lamp to be replaced on the first day & the second, this had not been attended to by the time we left after 3 nights. The 3 pin plug sockets on the walls by the bed were not working. We were told they were waiting for an electrician, who did not arrive during our 3 night stay. We wanted to plug our mobile phones in overnight so had to take it in turns with the socket that was working on the other side of room. We were also kept awake one night between 1.15 & 1.45 by people moving around noisily & continuously in the room above & again on our last morning at 5.30 by the slamming of doors. I thought it was guests gong to breakfast until I saw the time! I mentioned these disturbances to another receptionist whose response was she thought I might have been hearing a ghost???? The restaurant lacks atmosphere, gone are the table cloths as shown in photos on the website, it is akin to a school dining hall x pub. Having said that the food was very good & not expensive compared to prices in the south. But most annoying of all was that we booked Dinner, Bed & Breakfast for all 3 nights not realising that you are hard pushed to use the £32 per person allowance for the evening meal. We ended up having paid more for the food than we had actually consumed! Better to book B&B & pay for your meals as taken. Breakfast held a similar surprise: full English & other dishes carried a £5 additional charge - so despite not using your full allowance on the evening meal you had to pay more for certain things at breakfast! Sorry Rowton, lovely spa you may have, but there is much which needs attention.

By far the best scones I've ever tasted in my entire life!. Utterly delicious, light and melt-in- the- mouth, not stodgy, taste homemade with butter and all the proper stuff. Compliments to the chef and now I'm addicted!. Many thanks for a pleasant afternoon, sat outside in the sunshine enjoying the beautiful gardens, and serviced by the lovely friendly staff. Really cheered me up, and just we needed after a trying/busy week. Many many thanks Lisa & Eric 🌼

Stayed for my son’s wedding reception the weekend of 28/29 th June 2025. Lovely room with bath. Friendly polite attentive staff willing to go the extra mile. I thoroughly recommend the hotel for your family occasions.

We had a 90th birthday celebration for Mum and were very pleased. 20 of us had a delicious 3 course meal and stayed for bed and breakfast. Everything went smoothly and I would definitely recommend this super hotel.

What a fabulous find! I booked a spa day package through spa seekers for my friend and I to meet and have a girly catch up. It was perfect from start to finish We had afternoon tea which was lovely, a great selection of finger sandwiches and cake with tea, a glass of prosecco, use of the spa from 1 - 5pm with robes, towels, flip-flops and unlimited tea/coffee/water and a 25 minute treatment. We both selected for the head/neck/shoulder massage which was sooo nice. The ambience of the room was perfect. Mine was done by Violet and I couldn't fault anything of it, she was excellent. The spa is only small, the steam room, sauna and pool temperatures all good, it's very clean. The only downside there were not enough seats/beds for everyone so some groups shared. This didn't stop anyone having a nice day though We sat outside and walked around the beautiful gardens. Rowton Hall is beautiful and a credit to the staff. The staff are very nice, very attentive and professional. Overall we both had a fabulous day and would definitely return/recommend Thankyou to all the staff..it was perfect 👌

I chose Rowton Hall Hotel and Spa to host a celebration lunch. Both Cheryl and Sian , events organisers, couldn’t have been more helpful. The chef accommodated two vegetarians and the meal was excellent. Josh and Emily ran the service efficiently . Thoroughly recommend!
