If your stopping Chester for a night out then I would say it’s perfect location for night life… but we came here becuase of the location for a wedding. Not knowing or realising there’s a nightclub under the hotel. Which lead to a sleepless night with music not being shut off till early hours in the morning! Hotel was clean enough for just 1 nights stay. But don’t recommend it if you like your sleep

Heard loud music from nightclub under hotel till 4.30 in the morning! No sleep at all. Would not stay here again. Cshame as its one of the nicest travelodges ive stayed in.

This is a lovely spot- I have previously stayed at the Bridge St Travelodge and although reviews for St John Street mentioned noise, I found this hotel quieter . Maybe it's noisier at the weekends, I don't know. It's feels a quieter place in general- I didn't see another hotel guest at all in the 3 days I stayed, and only saw the receptionist and briefly a cleaner. Room was clean and fresh, I paid a little extra for the Plus option and found it worth it. I'd stay again and probably choose this over the Bridge St location for a midweek stay.

We stayed at the Travelodge on a Sunday night at the end of June. The Travelodge is in the middle of town opposite the Amphitheatre. The Dee River, the Grosvenor Park, the City Walls, the Cathedral, the main shopping area, and numerous pubs and cafe's are within a short walk. The City bus station is about a 10 minute walk way and the railway station is a 15 minute walk away. There are two (expensive) multi-storey car parks in close proximity. The Travelodge has bedrooms on two floors accessed by stairs and a lift. The ground floor has a nightclub and a sport bar either side of the small reception. I had read other reviews about the inability to sleep due to noise from the nightclub. Whilst checking in I enquired about what time the nightclub closes that night and was told about 1.30am. The receptionist added "Your room is at the other side of the hotel so you won't be disturbed". We had booked a Standard Plus room, advertised as being in a quieter part of the lodge. As it turned out we didn't hear anything from the nightclub at all and had a great night's sleep. The Standard Plus came with a coffee machine and 24 hour wifi. We had a great view over the amphitheatre but it helps to be tall to get the best view looking down due to the depth of the window sill. The room itself was probably the smallest I have come across in a Travelodge. The bed being more of a double than the usual king size. The room was equipped with an armchair and a desk chair. There were usb charging sockets by the bed, but not standard plug sockets. There were two plug sockets and a usb one by the desk. A kettle was supplied along with the coffee machine. There was a curtained shower but no bath in our bathroom. The temperature of the shower fluctuated whilst in use. Our room was fitted with both an electric heater and air conditioning. We didn't use either as the temperature in the room was already fine for us. I would stay there again due to it's central location but fearful of the noise disturbance described by others I would only do so if a Standard Plus (quieter room) was available.

What has happened to Travelodge??? There were no bedside cabinets and no plug sockets beside the bed. My husband has a cpap machine and so we had to plug it in at the end of the bed and balance it on an unturned bin and the travel bag. I have water beside my bed and my book and neither could be put there. There was no wardrobe only 5 hangers on a pole. No space for putting clothes away. Rooms are not cleaned during the stay - there is no option. They will top up drinks or change towels but they don’t always get to you before the cleaners leave for the day. We went without hand soap despite asking for it to be refilled. No free water either. Staff were nice and helpful so that is the only positive I can take from this.

Great price. Great location. Used the half price parking voucher at Pepper Street so only £10.50 for 24 hours. Definitely recommend.

Stayed for 2 nights and sadly one of the most disappointing Travelodges we have used. There is very limited parking to drop off luggage (2 /3 spaces) and the discounted car-park involves crossing a very busy road or a very long tour round a one-way system. The Accor carpark itself is very cramped with not enough room on ramps for vehicles to pass. On arrival the receptionist was not friendly and very dismissive when I asked for directions to the car-park. When we returned to the hotel during the day our key did not work and it took ages to have anyone to respond to the phone number shown on reception. Our room was smaller than any other Travelodge super rooms we have experienced and, as others have said, we question the size of the bed. Although we were street-side we were not troubled by outside noise. We were however disturbed by neighbouring rooms slamming doors - not really the hotel's fault I think Travelodge should provide free wifi for their suoer rooms- it is easy enough to give guests a code. I completed the Travelodge customer review with various comments which really needed a response only to find that in the acknowledgment they say review remains anonymous and they will not respond to comments. In other words there is no easy way to give them feedback.

Brilliant location, central and walking distance to racecourse. Great service from reception staff, always happy to help with a smile on their face and go the extra mile. Natalie was brilliant and saved the day with a safety pin! Thank you again!
