Two Rivers Lodge by Marston’s Inns

Overnight stay following a wedding. Great location for our purpose. Room was clean and had all of the expected amenities and services. Tea tray was well stocked. Check in is 2pm, which was awkward as the wedding service was at 1:30. I booked two rooms so paid an additional £20 to check in early at one of these rooms. I telephoned the reservations team on two occasions a few days prior to our stay to enquire about the check in process and how access to the room would be facilitated since we would not be returning from the wedding until 1am. My only criticism would be the lack of clarity I received from the respondents. As a result of the insufficient answers to my questions, I made provision to leave the wedding venue during the day to check in at the second room. Upon arrival at the Two Rivers, all my additional arrangements were negated as the gentleman who checked us in, allowed us to check in for the second room there and then and take the key card. Other family members were staying in the room and I was paying for it. The access to the room was via a separate accommodation block and simply using the key card. All my additional arrangements to check in during the day were unnecessary. It would have been very easy if the respondents to my telephone calls earlier that week had given me that information. We had a good night's sleep and the breakfast was excellent and very reasonably priced.

Absolute super service from bartender Rob. You really are a credit to U.K hospitality. I had a super chilled, super citrusy crops 1664- served like a pro in a wonderful chalice glass. Rob was very friendly and attentive!. Thank you for a wonderful “pubbing” and sunny experience.

Received off treatment from the gentleman working behind the bar. He was super friendly at the beginning of the meal, asking us if we wanted a fan as it was super hot and apologising for another member of staffs behaviour, as she was clearly very stressed. He also opened us a tab without us asking. Then as we were leaving, I was walking over to the bar to pay and my boyfriend was walking to the toilet he shouted “you need to pay now” I was like yeah I’m here I’ve got my card in my hand and that’s exactly what I’ve come to do and he said “sorry, I thought you were walking” which I personally find extremely rude! To be accused of such an act when I am literally walking over with my card in my hand. I know it shouldn’t make a difference but me and my boyfriend were both dressed up for the occasion too, looking very smart. It completely ruined what was a very nice meal.

Nice hotel, clean and suitable for an over night stay. Nice staff and very helpful when we arrived. I only marked down to average as when we went for breakfast at 10.15 on a Sunday, we were told there were none left so were forced to leave with nothing. Shame. Great spot if attending Cardiff - near train station and 30 mins on train.

lovely place. staff are really lovely and welcoming. They have live music recently on a Thursday which is great! family friendly. Menu is good and a decent drink selection.

What an outstanding pub. Sam and Kelly certainly know how to look after their customers. The food is amazing, and the staff are superb. The pub is spotlessly clean, and we simply love the wingback chairs. This pub has to be up there with the best, and is run in an efficient, friendly and welcoming manner.
