Despite being busy, our servers Millie and Ava were attentive and efficient. The food was tasty and great quality. Always have a good experience here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good vibe.

I am only allowed to mention one date but this review covers my stays in December 2024, January, February, March April, May, June and July of 2025. That I return every month suggests of courser that I am more than happy with my Rising Sun experience. First of all, booking is easy when you go through the direct booking route or I sometimes contact Karen and Ruth at the hotel and they do the rest. A few days before my arrival, Ruth gets in touch to check my restaurant reservations. These ladies are helpful and efficient, and always so friendly. The beautiful view from the hotel is legendary and I get to see how it changes with the seasons. Many times this years I have I have walked up Cleeve Hill, to the rear of the hotel, for views from higher levels. Whichever room that I have is always well presented. The housekeeping is brilliant. On my latest trip, I noted that my bath was full after thirty seconds. It is a lovely feature of this hotel that all room have baths, a rarity these days. I pretty near know the menu. Everything that I have ordered has been perfect. The chefs really know how to cook a steak to perfection. The lamb shank and boeuf bourgignon are so tender that a knife isn't needed. The baked camembert starter is wonderful. The other day I tried the beef and ale pie: it was glorious and was big enough to share with others. I am a little unadventurous with the desserts but can recommend the excellent crumble and the Eton mess sundae. Now for the jewel in the crown, the outstandingly good staff. How amazing they all are. Over the past eight months I have seen two stars move on and I wish Lewis and Tom well in their new positions. During my last five night stay I was blessed to be served at dinner by the ultra-professional Jake, one year on from his debut, the lovely and perfect Oscar, Lily and Ava and the newly appointed Reece, a real gem. Their service was flawless, making the dining experience one to treasure. My breakfasts were looked after by the charming and helpful Miley and the maestro of all he surveys, Bexley. The Manager, Simon, is rightly proud of his staff. They have been appointed and trained superbly. My aim is to see out the year with further monthly visits. What wonderful establishment this is, my favourite hotel.

The evening meal deal was amazing. Good food and great service from Lily and Ava, who made our evening most enjoyable. The atmosphere was friendly, relaxed and attentive.

Stayed here for six nights and must say it was a pleasure. the Staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful and made us feel very welcome, the food was brilliant and affordable and we were in room 17 which had an amazing view. Well worth a stay. and would just like to add the staff are a credit to the hotel and company.
