Down Hall Hotel

Beautiful place to stay with stunning building and grounds. Bedroom was clean, spacious and quiet. Breakfast was great along with service.

Just back from another amazing stay at the beautiful Down Hall. Arrived early and had lunch on the patio before the rain started, very attentive waitress and the sharing platter was delicious would recommend the Down Hall gin very nice. We had one of the stunning Patio rooms with our own patio area. It was my mums birthday and the little birthday cake and note from the GM was such a wonderful little touch, sat outside eating cake and having a coffee listening to the fountain was very relaxing. We treated ourselves to dinner in the Garden Restaurant and dinner was delicious. The waitress, I forget her name but she was there last time is so kind and lovely. Perfect stay in a perfect hotel. Wonderful evening spent with our lovely family at the Live on the Lawn- Mowtown evening on Friday 25th July. Excellent service given by all especially Niamh Alfie . Cheerful, happy staff that should be an absolute credit to you all. Well done to each and everyone of you who made our evening extra special! 🤍Look forward to returning soon!

This was a nice hotel for a two night stay as we were visiting family. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good. The grounds were good for a walk and the park was perfect for a pre-schooler. It’s a good hotel for children. Our room had bunk beds and mini slippers and a robe! As well as a colouring book, chess board and Nintendo switch. Breakfast was really good with a variety of Full English items and pastries etc. The coffee machine was average! You could order eggs Benedict type dishes but these cost extra. The hotel was quite noisy at night time from other guests and thin walls. Throughout the stay some of the other guests were quite loud. I wouldn’t like to stay here in a heat wave as it was hot in the bedroom. A fan was helpfully provided. The food was nice but nothing wowed me. I did like the afternoon tea but it wasn’t anything particularly special. Room service was expensive but efficient. The hotel wasn’t particularly clean in parts. There was a razor plastic covering under the sink where it hadn’t been cleaned from a previous guest and there was a layer of dust underneath the table. There was also a window ledge in a corridor with half a bottle of wine and glasses left. I booked a last minute spa treatment. A short massage and a mini facial. The ladies working in the spa were very friendly and the beauty therapist was lovely. It was expensive though and the spa itself felt cramped with a tiny waiting area. Other spas have comfortable relaxation rooms where they offer you tea after. There was no internal access from the hotel to the spa so I got damp walking in the rain! Despite the flaws, we would stay here again.

Came here with a friend who won a competition to come here. First impression was lovely building. Went in to check in and didn’t feel we had a nice welcome. We had an executive twin room and was a good size. It was pretty warm too so a fan was put in room but didn’t make a lot of difference. We decided to go to the Spa and we were then told we had to pay an extra £35.00 to use the facilities or use the sauna and steam room which is included on your stay. We had to go downstairs and found there was a funny smell and the sauna was very small so didn’t stay long. Later on we got changed and went to have a drink outside which actually was nice. We had meal in dining room which was also included. The food was ok and didn’t think much of service. Breakfast the following morning wasn’t too bad actually but confusing to find the place where it was. Was quite glad to leave actually as didn’t find staff very friendly and the rooms could have done with being updated with the decor.
