This was our second trip to the hotel. Due to our first visit last year, we were delighted with everything the hotel had to offer and decided this year to upgrade to a cottage stay. The room is ideal for dogs, as it has a garden and view of the lake. Unfortunately, due to lodges being constructed very close to the accommodation, we were woken up early hours with noise from building work. No one mentioned at the time of booking to expect disruption! The room was beautifully decorated but a very small bed for the size of room. The main issue we had was the lack of decent service in the bar and restaurants. Continually, told that due to a wedding party we had to wait to order food. The hotel really didn’t seem overly business and I think it was just disorganisation and a lack of staff. Really sorry to have to write this review but we spent a lot of money and didn’t feel we received the standard of service that we were expecting!!

We were a party of 21 pre booked meals which was fine. On arrival we were early and were about to sit down at the bar for a drink told by the woman in charge that our table was ready and we would have a drink at the table. No discussion taken to our table to find we were separated in half and sitting on separate tables.Again no negotiation we sat down ordered drinks and before we were finished out came the starters .The mussels were very poor despite advising the staff that they were not open and the ones that were looked slimy and unappealing. Again no acknowledgement that they were not up to standard. Main course average as were the desserts. Tipi booked but couldn’t take our drinks with us were told had to pay for our drinks before we could walk 15 metres to the tipi no one knew if our designated area had been set up! However when we got there an area had been set out for us with notification of the joint birthdays that we were celebrating. So no one on the staff obviously interact with each other. all in all poor food. Rude unhelpful staff( despite how much we had spent ) very poor service. Owner needs to look at customer service , quality of the food and training for senior management. We will not be returning.

We went to Tempus Hall restaurant (the orangery) , the party size was 21. Obviously we had to pre order not a problem. We had to pay a deposit, not a problem. 2 days before we attended I was asked to pay a bill with no details. I asked for a breakdown and was told the only way I could get it was to pay the bill. So rather than create a fuss I decided to pay. We got there and the service was terrible. The head waitress was surely . Fair enough. The started which included mussels were poor . 40 per cent of mussels were not open/ cooked. Main course came. , steaks average , fish and chips poor for 4 out of 9 meals. Seriously would avoid for large parties

Amazing experience. Room was fantastic, the staff were superb and the food was amazing. Excellent value for money and really made our silver anniversary special, especially being upgrading and the card and chocolates in the room.

A mixed experience. The good bit first: the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and has everything you need (although there are myriad varieties of rooms). The less good: it’s a wedding venue and also rather tacky (sorry), so you could be very unlucky - and it’s definitely not got the feeling of relaxation or tranquility. The restaurant was quite pricey. If you were here for a wedding (and like brash, pink, faux-luxury decor) you’d have a good time. Otherwise I’d probably avoid it. But the staff were all lovely and incredibly helpful (and well trained).

We selected this hotel as we needed to stay an extra night visiting family in the area. The reviews looked good and it was close by. There is an impressive drive up to the hotel from the main road and first impressions are that the site is still being developed with lodges being built by a small lake. The main building is impressive with a number of small outbuildings scattered around. We were staying in the main building close to reception in a ground floor Tempus Superior King room. The hotel appeared very clean and looked recently built with a mix of styles. I felt the check-in could have been a quicker process as we were the only ones at the reception desk and there were two members of staff sitting there. Our room was very impressive with a lobby area that included wardrobe/storage space and the bedroom had a large en-suite. The windows over looked the patio area outside the restaurant but this was not an issue and was not noisy even late at night. Our only small issues with the room were the lights that were all controlled by various touch switches and took some working out, and the very soft mattress on the bed. The breakfast was good however the cooked element I found small and when I asked for mushrooms with my omelette and salmon they forgot and when reminded gave me two small ones in a bowl. The continental buffet breakfast was serve yourself and was adequate however the serving tables where the food was laid out were small for the number of people eating in the restaurant and you had to queue. We found it strange that for a hotel with such large grounds there were no walks laid out for guests? However overall we enjoyed the experience but perhaps would not return.

Peaceful, stunning environment inside and out. Extremely clever in the way they have married together the old and new. Helpful, friendly whilst professional staff. I appreciated the personal touches such as robes, slippers, refreshments and toiletries provided. Thank you so much as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you.

We were looking for something different for a special anniversary and had seen / heard about a new hotel The Tempus so we decided to book a couple of nights. Contact was made with the hotel regarding our needs for an accessible room and with the hotel only being 2 years old it gave us the reassurance that all accessibility requirements would be met etc . However we found this did not appear to be the case . There appeared to be height issues with the facilities in the accessible bathroom probably making wheelchair transfer very difficult etc The main public disabled toilet appeared to have the same height issues . The majority of paths and all of the carpark are hard surfaced with gravel which raises concerns for wheelchair users especially manual wheelchairs as mentioned in a previous visitors review.. There was no signage re disabled parking and in fact no disabled parking bays provided The excellent reception staff tried to resolve some of these matters which in a new build should not have happened. It took over 3 hours sitting /waiting to see if some temporary equipment could be obtained to help overcome some of the problems which we agreed to after a long journey. This obviously spoiled a long awaited anniversary break. At no time has compensation been offered for what was not a cheap booking. I believe the hotel is now going to issue an "accessibility statement "on their website and hopefully revisit Building Regulations Part M to ensure all requirements are met. Hopefully this will help future visitors Would we go back if and when improvements are made ..I'm afraid the experience has ruined it for us and we will not be returning

We have just been for a meal for my fighters 21st birthday at The Tempus at Charlton Hall and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was amazing and the chicken club sandwich by far was the best we have ever had. The ambience and decor is beautiful. But the service and attention to detail by Jon the restaurant manager was outstanding he always makes you feel so welcome and is so friendly when you arrive. It’s lovely to have such a welcoming, exceptionally thoughtful person at the forefront of the restaurant. Will definitely looking forward to attending again and being so well looked after. Thank you Jon for the perfect meal and the wonderful food.
