Captain's House Inn

A beautiful property and grounds in a lovely neighbourhood. Fantastic breakfast and snacks in the room. Reasonably convenient for walking into town (and a very quick drive if you want to save your legs). We booked late so this was pretty much the only property left , so we feel we got lucky as the price was really reasonable and we may have picked other more expensive hotels otherwise.

A total delight. Historical buildings such as stable, carriage house and former home converted to delightful rooms. Staff and manager friendly and fun. The high tea was wonderful and so delicious. Cannot say enough positives. Staff want you to enjoy it and relax.

The entire staff could not be more accommodating, pleasant and professional! Rachel, General Manager went above and beyond to our every need. She was on her way to her car to leave for the day and walked right back in to make us Tea! Upon arrival expect complimentary Port or Sherry wine. Fresh made tea, cookies or scones! Breakfast provided had a varied menu all freshly cooked, so delicious! Highly recommend staying here when visiting the cape! Also, the grounds are absolutely beautifully landscaped and all the rooms were well decorated and clean!

We needed some time to get away and it was my job to find something suitable that my wife would enjoy and not yell at me about. Ever see one of those nature programs where the male bird builds the nest then the female bird comes along to inspect it; if she doesn't like it, she tears it apart. I was worried. When we arrived, we were greeted by Rachel. She seemed to be embedded on the premises because we saw her for many days and at different times of the day. We wondered if this was her home. It wasn't, but she made us feel at home. Every morning, we showed up to enjoy a breakfast of whatever was on the menu. There wasn't a meal we didn't like. If we showed up in the dining room in the afternoon, just to relax, or read, or write, or whatever, Rachel offered tea and scones. A really nice touch. (By the way, light classical music in the background was fitting.) Very peaceful and relaxing. Just what we needed. The room was adequate for our purposes, but the great feature was the fireplace. Late March isn't the warmest time of the year, so when we came back after an outing on the cold windy beaches, throwing the switch on the fireplace to take out the chill was perfect. We said our goodbyes to Rachel before our last day because she was actually going to take some time off. We did threaten to come back again and bring more people with us to help enjoy another stay.

Third visit over many years and still consistently high quality experience. We will be back again.
