I had been to The Clifton years ago for dinner, but had not enjoyed any of their facilities. We arrived on a Friday and left on a Sunday, I would have loved to stay longer and definitely plan on going back. The room, property and meals were all wonderful as was the staff. A special shout out to Andrew, who checked us in and seemed to be everywhere when needed in any capacity. We enjoyed both a relaxing dinner on Friday and a catered event on Saturday. Some of our party stayed at the main house and others in the Cottages - all had very positive things to say. It is conveniently located for easy travel to many of the available attractions. The cost was worth the experience.

We so enjoyed our stay for our honeymoon — we didn’t want to leave! Beautiful grounds, wonderful food, friendly staff, easy communication — everything seemed carefully curated to create a relaxing and luxurious experience. We hope to return for future anniversary celebrations!

My husband and I had a wonderful trip to The Clifton for our 10 year anniversary this July. The hotel was immaculate and beautiful. We stayed in the Stables which was close enough to the main house but also private enough. The room was beautiful and very clean. We loved swimming in the waterfall pool and were often the only ones there. The food at the bar was wonderful. All the staff were extremely friendly. Champagne upon arrival and cookies each night with turn down services. We also had a wonderful couples massage in the area. We used recommendations from the website for things to do in the area. We will definitely be back!

The whole experience was beautiful from the facilities to the people to the grounds to the service and restaurant. Doesn’t get any better- quality is everywhere! Truly a respite from the day to day life and am looking forward to our next visit.

We had 3 nights at The Clifton before returning home to the UK. It was everything we had hoped for and more to end our 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration in Washington/Virginia. All the staff were very accommodating, they could not do enough and they helped us make the most of the 2 full days we had. We stayed in a garden room which was beautiful, very clean and in a fantastic location. The food both at breakfast and an evening meal was of a very high standard. Our special thanks go to Andrew and the lady on reception each morning (we apologise for not asking her name) who were more than happy to chat to us and provide hot water for our English tea. We even saw deer on our walk to the lake - magical. We did not want to leave. Thank you so much again for making our stay perfect.

Rude staff that vapes at the front desk. Dirty room. Food was eh ! Don't waste your money when there are so many better options in the area. My asthma went crazy because the staff vapes inside. They don't even acknowledge you when you walk into the main building. Disappointing.

We booked The Clifton both as our wedding venue and as lodging for our wedding party. Our family and friends all loved exploring the property, the historical but luxury nature of the rooms, and the helpfulness of the staff throughout the entire stay.

Everything great and welcoming. I call it home away from home. Everyone from front desk, hosts, staff at restaurant and bar are wonderful. And big thanks to all Chiefs. Will back for sure. Recommend the place for solo, couple, or family. Have all you need for nice vacation or peaceful place to work.
