Little Mod Hotel at the University

Impeccable service, luxurious rooms, perfect location! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highly recommend!

This is the coolest hotel in Charlottesville! Close to everything that matters, and an awesome retro vibe. Room was spotless and very comfortable. You'll love the huge bathroom and shower. Wanna spin a little Sinatra vinyl in your room? Yeah...you can do that here...with the provided turntable and albums. As if that wasn't enough, the staff is commonly kind. This is where you need to be.

The room and remodel is cute. Everything was clean and well appointed. Staff were friendly though they’re not on site 24 seven. We found this out when the smoke alarm went off at 11 o’clock at night and no one was around to take care of it. The Charlottesville fire department came and we waited for staff to arrive to turn it off. Don’t worry though, that was not the thing that kept us awake at night. The train that runs overhead on the hotel shakes the entire building every three hours, 11:30pm, 2:30am &5:39am. This was not mentioned to us at all upon check-in and was shocking to us as the windows rattled while we were sleeping. It is impossible to ignore this. It felt like an earthquake. Enjoy your stay!

Super friendly, clean, and as quirky as promised. Should be noted this is a renovated motel, so outdoor corridors/ stairs. Guests requiring accessible rooms really must ask. I wish the lighting was better in the bathroom, and the TV picked up every Bluetooth in the neighborhood it seemed, which was annoying.

Our stay here was fine. Beds were very comfortable, and decor is cute. Parking is nonexistent as you are right next to sorority/frat housing. We ended up parking in a garage nearby but it was kind of a juggle when unloading kids and luggage. We had reserved the family suite that had a pullout couch for the kids. When we arrived there were no linens or pillows for the pullout couch so we requested those. When we made the bed the mattress was still covered in plastic so I’m assuming this suite is a new addition? We also realized there was no coffee maker or coffee products as expected so had to request those as well. Staff was apologetic and easily accessible via text. But the “front desk” closes after a certain hour so it’s not 24/7 access as you would believe. Sets of dishes, but no dish soap or sponges to wash them. No drinking glasses, just coffee mugs. Our breakfast from the Mod Pod was delightful the next morning. It’s a great convenience. To be noted, directly behind the hotel is a train track, and we were woken up around 1am from it passing by. Overall it’s a great location if you want to be in the heart of student life, but we definitely felt like we had gotten more of an Airbnb experience than a boutique hotel.

Moldy and loud The studio was super loud with trains going through and very moldy smelling. They have ear buds they give you but the train shook the whole room and the TV for several minutes in the afternoon annd also at 3 am.
