The Ballantyne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Charlotte

Classic high end Southern property under the Marriott brand. Spacious and well appointed in every respect and not of the warehouse feeling of some of the “newer” brands like Aloft. Great big fluffy white towels, bathrobes and (very important) slippers lend to relaxation after a hard day in these streets 😄! Plus, Ballantyne is a lovely area and a short walk or ride from a variety of eateries.

Absolutely loved Jeffrey Barbour and all associated employees that we met! My mother and I loved getting to see Jeffrey greet us with a smile and a very personable presence every time that we left and arrived back during our stay. Wonderful staff and experience!

BEWARE!! We were here for a five night stay and on our last night our car along with MANY others got broken into. The front desk was absolutely no help. Manager said he this had never happened before. The officer who did the report said it’s a common occurrence there. They didn’t make guests aware at all. A simple sign at desk that reminds guest to lock doors and remove valuables would’ve been nice. Upon check out we were not notified of the incident. Only when we went out to our vehicle we noticed glass all over the parking lot and unfortunately our car was one of the targeted vehicles. Absolutely nothing was done by the hotel to help. I will never return based on how poorly the situation was handled. Still no one has reached out to check on us and apologize for the huge inconvenience.

Get robbed on your weekend getaway! Loyalty clearly means nothing at the Ballantyne. My car was one of at least 24 broken into during a single night at the Ballantyne and the response from the hotel has been disgraceful. Staff admitted this isn't the first time it's happened. The parking lot has no gate, no fencing, and is wide open to the public. Despite claiming to offer 24/7 security--and confirming there was an officer on duty that night--nothing was done to prevent this or support the guests afterward. The valet is complimentary, but because of that, it's not insured. So you're left completely on your own. What's worse? The hotel is actively deleting comments from guests trying to speak out online. No apology that holds weight. No accountability. No ownership of how unsafe this property really is. Spent the trip talking to insurance and police. I've stayed at this hotel every year and have been a devoted Marriott member for over 12 years. But after this experience, I'll never return. This isn't the luxury experience the Ballantyne promises. It's negligence, plain and simple.

Rudest staff EVER!! Not worth the price!! Do not stay here! You’ve been warned! Grounds open to everyone so just come enjoy those if you want but the food is meh to say the least. Do not stay here. Rudest staff ever. Never met front desk staff like this in my life. And I stay at high end hotels regularly.

Avoid this hotel, not worth the money! The indoor pool area was filthy with empty glasses, and wet towels everywhere. There were no dry towels to use. One of the hot tubs didn’t work, and both were luke warm. The spa canceled my massage appointment 5 minutes after it was supposed to begin and the facial was below average. I was never offered any complimentary champagne like every other guest was. Manager said she would send something to our room for troubles, and never did. TV in the room did not work and one morning there was no hot water. I addressed all of these issues when checking out and was told manager would call me immediately. Days later and I’m still waiting for call. Completely ruined our girls trip! Unacceptable on every level.
