Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charleston NE MT Pleasant US17

The place was sold out and many of the people were there with teenage boys for a baseball tournament. Unfortunately for all of us staying there one of the two elevators was out. The laundry facility was also out of service. I thought I booked a suite- turns out a suite means I had a couch but not a separate living room from the bedroom. The room smelled of dogs or mold or something. The rug was stained and looked like it should be replaced. Would not recommend this hotel unless there is a renovation and everything works properly. Pretty expensive for what I got for staying there.

This is a review for the Holiday Inn express on Stockdale Lane in Charleston. When you get there, the hotel appears to be pretty new and everything seems to be in great condition and well-maintained. The front desk people have all been very very nice and a couple of times very helpful. The room is fine and I believe the hotel had a rating of about 4.7 which at face value it absolutely deserves. That’s said, what I didn’t expect was that they said at check in that housecleaning only cleaned every 3 to 4 days so if that is an issue you should know about it. What in fact happened was they didn’t clean it until after five days which frankly I not only didn’t expect but it was a real problem for me. Remember it’s not just fresh sheets but new towels, taking the garbage, etc. How do they expect you to go 5 days without new towels? You don’t expect a 4.7 rated hotel to not do your room each day. There were other little things that were weird about the place like didn’t they used to have pieces of paper and a pen in the room in case you needed to make a note? Also, at breakfast, no drinking water was available. Specific to my room, the toilet seat wouldn’t stay open so as a guy, it was a real pain. I will say that the location is great. It takes only about 20 minutes to get downtown and for someone like my wife who is really allergic and can’t stay in these older historic hotels, this place was perfect. Also, it’s a very safe neighborhood for walking in the morning and hidden from Rt17, there is a huge shopping area within a couple of blocks and in the other direction there is a really great grocery. Plus there is a road that takes you directly to Isle of Palms only a few blocks away.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

Needs some cleaning but at least it’s close to IOP Hotel is very convenient to Isle of Palms and lots of food and shopping in Mt. Pleasant. The room needed a good deep clean. There was dirt and build up in the bathroom, crumbs and food left on the seat, and food still in the fridge from the previous guests. Besides some old stains on the comforter the towels and linens were clean. Overall I would not recommend this place.

The staff was great, room was clean, it was quiet and peaceful and resturants and stores were near.

Very nice hotel. Clean comfortable room. Pool area is very nice. Room has so many extras. Very accommodating.
