The staff were fantastic as was the mansion. The mansion is truly one-of-a-kind. Built over 100 years ago and still almost entirely original. The carved wooden detail throughout, carved marble fireplaces and stained glass were exquisite. The staff, especially Bryan, were engaging and knew the history of the mansion's details inside and out. They also provided wonderfully informed suggestions for activities and sights around the Charleston area (such as the best plantations to visit) as well as places to eat. We loved the early morning coffee/tea with croissants that were available before we headed over to the carriage house for an amazing breakfast. If available, try the raspberry/peanut butter croissants. Surprisingly delicious! Afternoon wine and appetizers were also delightful. And we often enjoyed a bit of complementary port after returning from dinner in town. We dined one evening at the onsite restaurant, Circa 1886, which was very good, not rushed, and the staff was excellent. Our room was the former mens billiard room at the top of the mansion. Lots of room, sumptuous bedding, and just down the hall from the cupola with inside and outside 360 views of Charlestown. Staying just a bit outside of the bustling downtown was a good decision. The walk into town was well lit, safe, and a nice distance for a walk post-dinner, away from the crowds and noise of a busier section of downtown. Overall, a wonderful stay and we'd definitely stay here again when we are in town.
