Stayed in Charleston returning North, this time with a family member instead of traveling solo (see separate review for Holiday Inn in Hurricane, WV for southbound trip). This is an old school Marriott with that old school charm, and we enjoyed it. Attached parking garage for 15$/night, better than any other city hotel parking I know of. Rooms may be somewhat dated but have everything you need, and are clean. We had a double with a pseudo-balcony that allowed the door to be cracked open a few inches for fresh air, a very welcome touch that induces me to return when properties offer this. We arrived late but the bar/restaurant was still open, this was another welcome blast from the past as the food was of old time Marriott quality and delicious. After that it was sleep, up early, shower and on the way, so we didn't get a chance to try the breakfast, although had a cup of the complimentary coffee for the road. All in all, relaxing and pleasant, well done Marriott.
