This is a tough one. I stayed at Rodon hotel for 2 nights in June 2024. The hotel claims to be 3 star. I would accept that - but only barely. Let’s start with the good things: 1. Service: First of all the staff was friendly. They helped me with my booking, were smiling all the time and were very attentive to the guests. One lady brought me a bottle of ice cold water without me even asking for it. Good job staff! Good service is where it all starts. 2. The pool: The pool was very nice. It was quite large and had a comfortable temperature - not a given in all hotels. There were enough chairs for everyone - but that might depend on the season. 3. Location: It’s located around 10 minutes drive from the old town so quite easy to get to with scooter or taxi. 4. View: The view was very nice, overlooking the city and the mountains. I don’t have that many bad things to say, but the one I do have would potentially be a deal breaker: The rooms. According to ChatGPT this hotel was built in the 90’s. I am having great trouble believing that. It seems very worn down and rough around the edges. The rooms look like they were built in the 1960’s, and what surprised me the most was the lack of basic power outlets. I’m not kidding - there were two outlets - the fridge was connected to one and the tv was connected to the other. I had to disconnect both to charge my phone and power bank. I have stayed in 100’s of hotels, and this is the first time I have seen a lack of power outlets. Also, the aircondition took a long time to cool the room down, and did not have a strong cooling effect. The beds and furniture also seemed to be from the 1960’s. The breakfast was very basic - definitely nothing special. All in all, I would say this hotel is very basic, but if you are ok with older rooms and facilities, it gets the job done. Would I stay here again? Maybe, but it would be because of the staff and the pool - nothing else. I paid around 100 EUR per night.
