Domes Zeen Chania, a Luxury Collection Resort, Crete

We traveled to Domes Zeen as a family of 5. The style of the hotel was to our taste - chic, Byredo products in the room, private pool etc. With the exception of breakfast which is varied and relaxing, we could take or leave the evening meals. Service was slow and quality variable. We preferred going into Chania which was busy and the restaurants recommendations given by the hotel were good. As mentioned by other guests the Spa is very small, literally 3 rooms. My massage was good but there is no ‘spa experience.’ We found the staff to be friendly, but whilst well meant, being hassled to rate the hotel on a scale of 1-10 at 9am before having had a cup of coffee was too much. The pool area was pleasant, sun bed availability ok but I can imagine that would become a struggle later in the season. We found there to be a lack of atmosphere around the pool, and perhaps the hotel in general. As another guest put it, something is ‘amiss’. It was the same at the kids club. Staff were friendly, and our younger daughter enjoyed craft activities, but it felt low every for a kids club. The hotel has a lot going for it but I’m not sure we would rush back.

We stayed for 4 nights at this beautiful property in May. During our stay, our tire on our rental car had gone flat and the staff/team at Domes Zeen went above and beyond to make sure that it was resolved with the company (without us even asking). They also had their service/maintenance department come and take a look. The food and service was amazing. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine in the room along with some cookies. The buffet was phenomenal- plenty of options ranging from meats, eggs, cheese, fruit, yogurt, coffee, mimosas. An additional benefit was that their lobby provides (at no additional cost) some snacks and wine/beer/drinks throughout the day - and you can watch the sunset with a glass of wine from the lobby! The grounds were very well maintained and the room was stunning. Every day they would do turn down service and bring bottles of water to our room. Close enough of a walk from old town Chania but it is a bit of a distance - maybe 15-20 min walk. It’s worth walking to the old town and not driving as parking may be tough in town. Enough restaurants nearby the hotel as well as some grocery shopping / dessert shops. Overall I would highly recommend staying here!

Wonderful place! Loved being on a resort but easily walking to town! Also there is an amazing running path right out the door that made me thrilled!
