Helen's Alpine Village boosts tons of quaint shops, german restaurants, zip lines, river tubing, putt putt courses and wedding chapels. Helen's Oktoberfest runs September - October and is the longest running Oktoberfest in the United States. Dahlonega was the start of the gold rush and has historicial significance in the development of these mountain communitys. With a revitalized town square, the upscale restaurants, shops and festivals really can't be beat. Visit the Consolidated Gold Mine and travel 200 feet into an old gold mine or try your hand at panning for gold and gems. Visit the Smith house for amazing all you can eat southern cooking served family style at your own private table.
