Luxury accommodation set in beautiful grounds, perfect for a special break. Staff were welcoming , friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to the Master bedroom, which had an amazing view of the gardens. Taster menu and flight of wines were a delight.

The service and attention to details we received was second to none. The venue and grounds are stunning and the staff exceptional. They went above an beyond to ensure that our stay was unforgettable. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would thoroughly recommend Gidleigh Park.

Merrivale room was perfect for two elderly sisters sharing. Small balcony with views over the garden. Twin beds and a chaise longue that was perfect for relaxing after a walk down by the river. The staff were brilliant and everything was organised really well. Attention to detail was excellent. It was a memorable Christmas and we hope to be able to stay there again.

We stayed on a 4 night Christmas package and were truly spoilt. Every member of the staff adopted a “nothing is too much trouble” approach. Stepping into the hotel feels like returning to an old friend’s house.

Having visited many country house hotels over the years I have decided that there are good ones and great ones, Gidleigh definitely comes into the latter category because lots of things come together to create a glorious travel experience. Location is superb. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with the river Teign running through it. It’s also a great place to strike out and explore the wild scenery of Dartmoor with its rich cultural heritage. Reception will provide you with a free booklet giving details of where to go without even having to take your car out. Wining and Dining are a joy, as you would expect from a restaurant with a Michelin star. Bedrooms are well appointed with nice touches such as complimentary Madeira, breakfast tea and a daily newspaper. The public areas are wonderful for relaxation. But the jewel in the crown is the staff - nothing is too much trouble for them. Service in all settings is courteous, friendly and unrushed, making guests feel they have found a home from home. All in all the quintessential country house experience.

First class hotel in lovely location. The food was excellent with no problems taking account of our food intolerances. We were well looked after for the whole stay. This iis the third time we have stayed at Gidleigh and we will return soon.
