Baumhaus Serviced Living - Art & Design Apartments

Stayed for 4 nights in June. Handy for travel to and from the airport with metro stop close by. Our apartment was on the top floor of renovated townhouse with lovely large balcony over looking the garden. The space was very comfortable with nice bedding, small kitchen area, sofa etc and shower room. There was a small hairdryer which was very good. We arrived early and got our room straight away which was great. The apartment was up a few flight of stairs so a bit of a climb but kept us fit. The stair itself was made of beautiful wood with lovely skylight at the top. We were close by to lots of supermarkets, shopping centres and cafes and food market and on the bus route to the nearby beaches. We bought a 3 day transport pass which was great for the metro and buses when we didn’t fancy walking as it is located a bit further out of the city centre. We felt it was quite nice to dip in and out from the main touristy areas. There was plenty to explore locally in the surrounding area for a short trip. ( we had previously explored the more central areas of Porto). Carla was very helpful.

Excellent apartments in a very good area with good transport and eating options. Metro about 200 Metres away and a very handy supermarket about the same distance. Mercado Bom Sucesso ten minutes walk away where you have excellent food and drink options at very reasonable prices. Wonderful apartments

Really nice place, outdoor garden is pretty and a good place to chill out. Big downfall for us was the bedroom being a loft and close to the ceiling, the upstairs guests were making loud footsteps constantly in the night- even 4am I was woken up by it and it went on for hours, also made the floor click/creak above which is close to you due to the ceiling. Early mornings we were not able to sleep and relax. Ruined the stay for us unfortunately as the sleep was so interrupted. Everything out was great.

We stayed in Nadir which feels like it is below stairs but is probably the most private appartment. The weather was hit and miss but we could still sit out admiring the tree. We felt as if we had our own private place in Porto which was great. Unfortunately after a good start, the advice we received from the manager during our stay was very underwhelming and could have totally spoilt our stay if we hadn’t figured the transport system out for ourselves. We asked for directions down to Ribeira and then Grahams Port House on a day when the weather forecast was for torrential rain. Instead of recommending we get the nearest metro station from Carolina Michaelis we were advised to find a number 500 bus from Praca da Galiza. This was a building site and after asking numerous locals who all said the bus 500 didn’t go there we went to the recommended plan B. Plan B was to catch the Line D yellow metro line from casa musica metro station. Sounds perfect…..except the line D does not go through casa musica. After that we decided to totally ignore anything Carla had told us and thankfully found our way to Vinum at Grahams Port House for our lunch reservation on time 2.5hrs after setting out. We loved our room and the location of Baumhaus once we worked out the public transport links for ourselves. Just don’t listen to Carla.
