Hilton Garden Inn Cedar Falls

It was lovely! I was concerned based on prior reviews, but we loved it! Bed is a little harder but for those who prefer firm it was excellent and I didn't mind it either. Super clean and lovely amenities. Breakfast is $12 if it doesn't come with your meal. A little out of the way but not bad if you're coming in during university events when downtown is swamped. Meals are expensive but delicious. Pool & hot tub were great. Staff was all SUPER nice!

So many issues. We chose this hotel based on Hilton standards and the pool/hot tub. We have 2 older children so we always book 2 rooms. Both of our rooms were cleaned well - which was the highlight. After checking in, I went to the hot tub - to realize that it was colder than the pool. I’m guessing it was around 84 degrees. I went to the front desk to ask if it was out of order, bc of the temperature and the clerk told me it measured 86 earlier but it’s not out of order bc the jets still work. She saw no issue with the temperature but did admit that it was 20 degrees lower than usual. She was about as unfriendly as you can imagine and this was the standard for both front of the house employees on first shift. Our bed was so squeaky that we woke every time either of us moved. I asked in the morning of our second day that someone look at the bed, I received the standard response of “of course”, but no smile - ever. There was a sign posted at the desk that morning that said both the pool and hot tub were out of order- this was due to unsafe chemical levels. So another downer. We were in Waterloo for a family funeral. There were signs everywhere saying “no outside food permitted in common areas”. I did ask if we could have some of our family come over (bc we were all staying at hotels) and have pizza outside in the courtyard area. I was given a very firm no. The best part of the stay was the breakfast waitress - I think her name was Nancy. She was very lovely and talkative. Also, what should be a continental breakfast is $15, plus tip. If you are looking for a smiling face, you aren’t going to find it from most of this staff. I can’t imagine Hilton would be excited about this review, but it was just one let down after another. Side note, we are diamond members with Hilton, not that I expect anything special but we didn’t receive even standard service.

Staff was awesome!

Area safe. Quiet, didnt have any noise issues. Our room wasnt cleaned well. There was a wad of hair on top of the shower drain when we arrived. The fitted sheets were too small for the bed and kept riding up. A piece of tile was coming up in the bathroom and it looked like dark mold growing under it. The hot tub was under maintenence. and had apparently been so for a while now.. Carpet was coming up in the elevators. You have to pay for breakfast, which is super lame. Staff was friendly, had no issues there.
