Nice little hotel very conveniently located a few paces from the railway station. Close to all amenities in the town centre but still quiet. Curteous, friendly and welcoming staff, who upgraded us to the "Love Suite" when we asked to extend our stay soon after arriving, having decided our itinerary and formed a favourable impression of the establishment. Clean and comfortable. The Love Suite is well arranged in the roof level, is spacious and has a good sized roof terrace with views over the town to the Tuscan hills inland, and across to Corsica out to sea. We recommend "Il Ponte Antico" for an excellent meal in lively local company. The sea front is about 30 mins walk from the hotel along a very pleasant tree-lined avenue. The archaeological museum and its park is a bit further but still walkable with the choice of going along the road, or along the river and through the fields, and is well worth the visit, however do check opening times. The ancient hilltop town of Volterra can be reached by taxi, but if you wish you can take the bus from outside the station, a scenic ride for very little money. Again check times as not many departures, buy tickets from station machines. The advertised destination will be Salina, where you change to a connecting bus for the final leg up to Volterra.
