The king rooms are updated and cleaner than the old rooms, the only problem I have is the room I booked clearly showed a room with a hot tub but for $70 I should have known better but still don't false advertise, some people will see that an be very upset when they realize there's not a hot tub in here, the lamps, bed and room decor are excellent and the bathroom was also clean which is what everyone expects and wants and the lady up front wasn't even that rude to me this time lol seriously though Howard is in the top 6 or 7 hotels available in Salem I enjoy the views and a majority of the time the rooms I'm placed in!

Had a very enjoyable stay here. Nice pool for the family’s very nice views of the mountains. Comfortable bed and breakfast was nice.

Not very clean, hot breakfast was heavily advertised but didn't exist, maybe because Sunday morning? No big deal, but they could have had a sign. But 2 stars not 1, because: I chose this motel based on price and on location, both were excellent.

Poor signage, dark access road is hard to find at night. Room was to be smoke and pet free. Had terrible dog poop odor but is was late and only other room on third floor with no elevator after we complained. Towels were stiff and scratchy. No towel bars, no hair dryer, no ironing equipment. Breakfast was poor. Only rice cereal. No tea bags, no syrup for waffles, no jelly or peanut butter for toast. Do Not Stay Here. Many other choices close by. One of the worst road trip hotels we've ever stayed at. No breakfast person to keep stocked and no one at front desk with many people waiting there. AWFUL

The staff is apathetic and unwilling and don't greet you or hardly speak to you when you ask for something. The rooms aren't clean and they're old with both big and small repairs that are ignored. The stairs and balconies are falling apart. Our door wouldn't close, for God's sake, and there are people LIVING in this hotel who leave their kids' toys and ripped-up furniture in the hallways. The "Hot Breakfast" as advertised is a joke and quite likely leftover from days of no one eating it. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

This was not the WORST place that I have ever stayed bur it certainly could have tied for second WORST. The room smelled awful and was filthy. The neighbors, who looked and acted like permanent residents were rude. Drug use and drinking in the parking lot during the daytime. Fortunately I only stayed here a few hours to get a little bit of . Will never be back here again.

No one was in the lobby only a note with a number to call. Sounded like I woke up the guy working there. I got my key and went to the room. First there was no number on the door at all. I go in and it smells so bad like mold and wet dogs. There was dirty clothes on the floor and looked like someone stole the microwave. I asked to get another room and it was pretty much just as bad just no dirty clothes but the ac didn't work. There was no way I could stay there. The smell was making me sick. I called the manager and I was told he would refund me the money and to just leave the key in the room because he didn't want to get up.
